Mary Frances Stevens, 89, of Ellerslie, Georgia passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 surrounded by loved ones. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM EST on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Pastor Donnie McCoy officating.
Mrs. Stevens was born July 26, 1927 in Abbeville, Henry County, Alabama, the daughter of Oscar Culpepper and Ethel Parker Culpepper. At forty years of age while raising six children she earned her associates degree which opened the door to her long career as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Rose Culpepper, Lucy Brownell and two brothers, Henry and Reubin Culpepper.
Survivors include her loving husband Steve Stevens; children; Brenda Herring, Sandra (David) Johnson, Bobby Herring Jr, James (Betty) Herring, Shirley (Buster) Newman, Cindy (Ronnie) Smith. Step children Kay (Michael) Beasock, Carol (Stephen) McNeely, Lynne Pine and Jean (Chris) Riley; sisters Dorothy Parker, and Betty Tant; brother, Franklin Culpepper; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and a host of extended family.
Frances was a loving mother and memaw who loved Jesus, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She was an avid sports fan who loved her Atlanta Braves and Falcons. She was an active member of Harris County ABWA for twenty-four years. She attended Bethesda Baptist Church. Her beautiful smile will be forever missed, we will carry her in our hearts always.
In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate that donations be made to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Rd., Columbus, GA 31909. The family would like to thank the wonderful caring staff for all they did for Mrs. Stevens during her illness.

Frances will certainly be missed. She always had her sweet smile and had to have a hug. The Ellerslie Community Auxiliary lifts the families up in prayer. We loved her so much.
