Cynthia “Cindy” Pansza, 64, of Columbus, Georgia passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Midtown Medical Center.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Solid Rock Church, 6959 Warm Springs Road, Midland, Georgia 31820 with Pastor Jay Bailey officiating. A reception will follow in the Student Ministry Building for family and close friends.
Ms. Pansza was born April 23, 1952 in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada to the late Beryl Cruden Walters and James E. Walters. She worked a variety of jobs after high school retiring as a Customer Service Representative with the Army Air Force Exchange Service. She always adored the spring and summer weather especially when she was swimming. She was a talented athlete and loved sports. Many would say, “If girls would have been allowed to play baseball when she was a girl, most teams would have picked her first.” She had a love for softball and was a successful pitcher, catcher, and short stop, and during her playing days, she helped coach her nephew in baseball from tee ball to his final season.
Most importantly, Cindy was a faithful member of Solid Rock Church and touched numerous lives and hearts through her involvement in a variety of areas. She was a member of Six Star and Destined Ladies Ministry and thoroughly enjoyed her time working with young children through the Oasis Afterschool Program. While Cindy had no children of her own, she treated and loved each and every child as if they were her own. Her loving and kind presence will truly be missed.
Survivors include her sisters, Betty Horiuchi and Barbara (Allin) Kibben all of Columbus, Georgia; nephews, Eric Castaneda, J.B. (Brittany) Castaneda, and David (Molly) Horiuchi; great-nephew, Dashiell Castaneda; great-nieces, Laney and London Horiuchi; heart-sister, Ella Little; and her beloved Blue & Gold Macaw, Jasper.

What a wonderful tribute to Cindy. I remember her enthusiasm in telling about the children she worked with and her twinkle when she was near Jasper, her colorful feathered friend. She did have a joyful spirit and pleasant personality.
