Ronald Edwin Jochen, 85, passed away peacefully, Monday evening, March 5, 2018, while at Southwest Christian Hospice in Union City, Ga.
He was born to Ed and Mary Jochen in Wilmington, DE. Growing up in Drexel Hill, Pa with a surviving younger brother, David Jochen of Asbury, NJ.
Ronald attended Penn State University in State College, Pa, graduating in 1954 with a Bachelor Degree in Education. He married Dorothy McLain, of Moscow, PA, later that year in August. Dorothy preceded him, passing away in April 2001. They had five children, Carl, who lives in Scranton, Pa. Jere, married to Judy Ann Morris, who live in Ozark, Al. Roger, who lives in Bellefonte, Pa. Joyce, who is engaged to Dennis Johnson, who live in Graceville, Fl, and Judy Lynn, who lives in Peachtree City, Ga.
He taught 8th Grade English at State College Area Junior School, was an active Scout Master for Troop 367, and active at Houserville United Methodist Church. He loved live theatre, especially Shakespeare, traveling, camping, fishing, hunting, playing disc golf, any Penn State sports, and spending time with his family.
He has six grandchildren – Brandi married to Jason Keener in Ozark, Al. Brooke married to Gauge Brinson, in Castel Volturno, Italy. Penelope Goodman engaged to Daniel Huggins, in Spartanburg, SC. Bethany Jochen, in Enterprise, Al, and Devon and Seth Moan in Peachtree City, Ga. Also, five great grandchildren, Tanner and Caroline Brinson, and Joanie, Sammi and Jaxon Keener.
Not long after retirement, and Dorothy’s passing, Ronald moved to Ozark, Al where he lived just over 10 years beside Jere and his family. He later moved to Peachtree City, Ga in March of 2016.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held at his most recent home church, Enterprise Bible Methodist Church, 114 Alberta Street, Enterprise, Alabama 36330, Reverend Rinnie Evans officiating on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 2 P.M. with a reception to follow.
Memorial gifts in his honor can be made to Enterprise Bible Methodist Church, The Alabama Shakespeare Festival, or the Boy Scouts of America.
