Katherine Scott Allen, age 87, of Peachtree City, passed away August 20, 2020.
Mrs. Allen was born in New York, NY on July 15, 1933 to the late William and Anne Scott. With the nickname “Scotty,” she grew up in New York City alongside two sisters, Adelaide and Anne. While attending college, Mrs. Allen met the young Princeton undergrad, Al Allen. Upon Mr. Allen’s graduation, he became an officer in the United States Air Force. The couple wed in Biloxi, MS on December 14, 1952, while Mr. Allen was stationed at Keesler AFB. Upon completion of officer training, the couple relocated to Fairchild AFB in Spokane, WA, where they welcomed the first of their five children. Mr. Allen’s career in sales and management sent the family to Louisville, KY, Cleveland, OH, Chicago, IL, and Atlanta, GA. Mrs. Allen especially enjoyed living just outside of Cleveland, OH in the lovely suburb of Bay Village. Upon Mr. Allen’s retirement, the couple moved to Lake Keowee in Seneca, SC., where they lived for more than 20 years. Mrs. Allen lost her beloved husband in May of 2006. In 2014, she relocated to Georgia to be closer to family. Mrs. Allen spent the remainder of her life at the Arbor Terrace community of Peachtree City.
Mrs. Allen devoted her life to being a mother and caregiver to her family. She was Catholic and member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City. While living in South Carolina, Al and Kathy, both confirmed wine-lovers, became founding charter members of their community Wine Tasting Club. She had a passion for all things that involved reading, especially good crime or mystery novels. Known for having a quieter disposition, it never stopped her from long chats and storytelling with dear friends and family. Kathy especially loved travel. She made many wonderful memories with her husband as they were able to explore destinations throughout Europe, the Caribbean and around the United States. Mrs. Allen had a heart for her four-legged children as well, particularly her late dog, Lacy.
Along with her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband, Alan “A.W.” Allen, her daughter, Christine Margaret Allen, and her sister, Anne Scott. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Stephen and Gail Allen of Peachtree City, Michael and Justina Allen of Roswell, Laura and Urban Dishart of Sumter, SC, and Nikki Allen of Brookhaven; grandchildren: Matthew Dishart, Kyle Allen, Kevin Allen, Valerie Allen, Grace Allen and Alexandra (Peanut) Allen; sister: Adelaide Franklin of New Jersey.
The Allen family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation, 1086 Hwy 54 West, Fayetteville. Messages of condolence may be left at www.GeorgiaCremation.com.

My sister, Katherine, was, growing up, my mentor and best friend. We were active tomboys, got into our share of mischief, but had a lot of fun.
In high school, she was greatly admired as a powerful member of the debate club and also as a thespian, having starred in many major roles.
Gathering with all our children at the grandparent’s beautiful Massachusetts home, is an especially beautiful memory.
She is missed.

Since the first day we met, my mother-in-law, Kathy Allen and I were instant friends. I hesitate to call her my “in-law” because she was so much more than that, and always treated me like one of her own. Both she and my father-in-law, Al, were always fun to be around and lived life to it’s fullest. Not only will I always be grateful to them for raising the love of my life, Laura, but for being a wonderful mix of friend and parent. Our son, Matthew, was their first grandchild and he adored his Nana and Pop Pop. Mom bravely dealt with her disabilities late in her life like the tough New York lady that she was. We will all miss Kathy but we will find solace in wonderful memories of a life well-lived, and the hope that she is now reunited with her beloved Al and Christy. We love you Mom and will miss you every day.

I believe my life is more blessed because I got to know Kathy Allen. She was a warm and caring person. Kathy was always kind to me, and we had some great conversations. I was amazed by her remarkable memory, quick wit, and ability to tell a great joke. She enjoyed life, and her presence made the rest of us enjoy our lives too.
I know how much she loved her children and grandchildren. They will miss her tremendously as will those of us who were lucky enough to know her. However, Kathy left so many beautiful memories that she will live on forever in everyone’s heart who met her.
My sincerest good wishes and prayers to the entire Allen and Dishart families, and to everyone who will miss her. I hope that your photographs, both real and in your mind, sustain her presence forever.

Kathy was a beautiful lady who raised a beautiful family! What a life to have been raised in NY, married in Biloxi, and then lived in Spokane and various other cities around the country! So happy that they came back south to retire and live their lives. I am glad that she is out of pain but I know how much her family will miss her. Peace to you, Kathy.

Most of my memories of Katherine Allen are from rare family gatherings during childhood, especially one occasion in Massachusetts in 1968. She was friendly and humorous and I always felt comfortable in her presence. It was a great pleasure to renew acquaintances with Aunt Kathy and Uncle Al at a family wedding in New Jersey in 2002. They were wonderful people and it was a joy to visit with them.
