Emma Grace Allred, age 86, of Suwanee, Georgia passed away on September 12, 2021.
Born in Jamestown, Tennessee on May 3, 1935, Grace was a child of the depression who didn’t let her circumstances define her. Having worked to put herself through school, she earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Belmont University in Nashville, TN and earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Tennessee.
Nashville was her home for the majority of her adult life, and she enjoyed her career as a children’s book editor for the Baptist Sunday School Board (now Lifeway). A faithful church member, Grace served for decades as a children’s Sunday School and Discipleship Training teacher, and a church librarian. Additionally, she was a member of the Belmont Auxiliary and volunteered in the Nashville Public Library System for a number of years. She was a patron of the arts and particularly enjoyed the Nashville Symphony and Theatre productions.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Hobson and Luda Gentry Allred and her brother, Gerald Allred.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Nancy Allred of McDonough, GA; nephew, Jeff Allred (Lisa) of Youngsville, NC; niece, Amy Songer (Troy) of Cumming, GA; great nephew, Brandon Lewis (Sally) of Evans, GA; great nieces, Kathryn Allred of Raleigh, NC and Abigail Songer of Birmingham, AL; a great, great niece and nephew, Skylar and Jaxon Lewis of Evans, Georgia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Salem Baptist Church, 1724 Highway 155 N, McDonough, GA 30252.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Salem Baptist Church on Saturday, September 18th at 11:00 AM. The family will receive guests beginning at 10:30 AM. (Please note that masks will be required.) The service will also be streamed live beginning at 10:50 AM @ www.salemchurch.net/watch.

I am so sorry about Grace. She was a fine Christian Lady and good friend. I will miss her.
