I will always remember Aunt Mary with a lot of love and fond memories. My deepest sympathies go to all her family. Prayers for peace and comfort during this time of loss.

My favorite memory with my nanny will always be spending weeks at her house in the summertime. Me and Nanny would go thrifting because she loved a good thrift store. When it was time to head back home she would always send me off with a 20 dollar bill and a cold coke. These are just a few of many favorite memories I’ll hold onto forever. Rest well Nanny. I love you so much
Kassidy Jones says
My favorite memory of Nanny is when Pop took her for a motorcycle ride on one of her birthdays and when her helmet was taken off, her wig came with it! I remember everyone, including her, laughing hysterically. Love you Nanny

My memories are mostly from 50 yrs. ago, so bear with me. They are things that most likely I am the only one to remember.
Mary was an animal lover and was apt to take in a stray person as well. She worked nights so she slept late and kept the temp cold. When my finger tips turned blue, the devil in me knowing I would catch hell, turned the temp up and like clockwork in 5 minutes you would hear “Yank turn the GD heat down!!” How did she know?
You would think in 50 years people would change… not Mary. She was truly one of a kind. You always knew if she like you, or damn well knew if she didn’t. She would do anything for family.
Mary you will be missed, but classics don’t go away and you are truly a classic.
Love Ya, Yank

Although I only knew her for a small portion of her life she definitely made an indelible impression. She was certainly one of a kind.
I do remember seeing her on Mother’s Day and how her eyes would absolutely light up when her grandchildren were around.
My other favorite memories(stories that I had the privilege to hear):
1. At Walmart with Tonya
2. Kassidy’s driving tip
3. Domino’s Pizza…..and many, many more.
May she rest in peace and may the family be comforted.

So very many fantastic and loving memories with my dear aunt Mary! Like every time we came home from over seas or for a visit how we would go to at her house and she would be working but would have Kenneth to drive to get a banana split or how we would walk across the street and play in the creek. Ohhh and kruit one of her furr babies at that time. Ohhh and how she would tell me when she got home how important it was to wash your face before going to bed! Lol. The first true loan I ever took out was with aunt Mary and uncle higg. So many lessons she taught me and others I know. Rest now aunt Mary you are joined now with so many that have gone before you. I know momma and daddy both were so happy to see you again in heaven. For aunt Mary’s immediate family:May God show you the path that leads to peace. May you all be comforted in the memories of a VERY spunky lady that loved so very many.

Words can’t express how much we miss you Nanny. The love you had for the whole family was unmatched. I will hold to to the memories of us playing Old Maid and Hungry Hungry Hippo when I was a kid. Your laugh and smile was contagious. I love you so much and I know you loved us whole heartedly. Rest Easy Nanny no more pain and no more suffering
Tonya says
Nanny was at her happiest when she could help others.
She always wanted and needed to be needed.
Many times she would go to random moms with kids in a grocery store and hand them a little wad of cash.
She would go through the nursing home and give out all her crackers and little Debbie’s to the ladies that didn’t have family.
She told me many times that there’s no feeling like the love you have for your grandchildren, and boy was she right.
As a young girl
I have great memories of summer stays and simple days in South Carlolina.
During one of this stays was maybe the 1st memory of me trying to wake her in the mornings..you would think I would have learned my lesson that summer but many years and cussing later it was like a good morning instead.😬
She taught all us girls how to be a strong and independent and I’m very thankful for that.
I can still feel the Christmas joy and excitement of her pulling into the driveway on Hickory Dr, in her big long black thunderbird,so full of gifts and cigarette smoke that you could barely see her.
Christmas was officially here when she arrived.
Oh and her corn she grew, seasoned and kept frozen for us till the holiday.
Nanny loved us all so much and her animals as they were like her children.
I know she’s so happy to be reunited with them all.
I will miss my nanny. But I’m at peace knowing she is happy in the arms of so many she missed daily.
She told us she was ready, and tried to prepare us.
I know and feel with every fiber of my being,She is happy and at peace now.

My Nanny was such a fiesty woman, and I loved that about her. She would tell you how it is. I remember going to her house alot and just spending time with her. Look through all her photo books and glass cabinets full of everything she had. All of it was amazing to me. I remember when I was younger I would wear Nannys wigs around her house. She will be missed by so many. I’m glad to say she was my great grandmother
Bella says
Nanny was the type of person we’re you knew her love for you was unconditional. You didn’t have to see her often but you still felt the love. You need that in this world. We would go over there for Easter Sundays when I was younger but we would always go over for Thanksgiving and I will always remember how as soon as she saw us she would have a big smile and her face would light up as we gave her a hug and talked to her. She would always tell me and Vaeh how beautiful we were. I love you Nanny.

Aunt Mary was an absolute one of a kind . I will always treasure our memories together . How her and Uncle Hig told me the remit dog Tippy didn’t come to anyone but them and later a video was made with me a Tippy sharing an ice cream . How she traveled down to see my Mom when she was on hospice and I cooked them a big dinner and brought it in . Our private talk at a time I really needed it . Aunt Mary you’ll be greatly missed as the world has lost a wonderful woman full of love , spunk and spice . Love you always Pippi

I will never hear “Hey darlin” without thinking of her! I believe that’s how she greeted everyone. When family would get together, she would just sit there and smile. Family was what mattered to her the most!

Mary was the best sister anyone could ever have. She was about 6 1/2 years older. One of my favorite memories is her walking me to school, she would never let go of my hand. So wonderful to our Mom and at anytime if one of her Brothers or Sisters needed help she was there. If you wanted a good laugh you just needed to talk with her. I will miss her terribly. I LOVE MY SISTER
