Clayton E. R. Williamson, age 91, of Locust Grove, transitioned from this life on December 26, 2022. Mr. Williamson was born January 9, 1931, to Anita Glass Roberts where he would soon be united with his father Nathaniel P. Williamson, and brother Paul Williamson in Hanover Massachusetts.
In his early years, Clayton attended Hanover High School and he would later attend Tufts University where he would earn his Bachelor’s degree. After school, Mr. Williamson would go on to become a self-employed Architectural Finisher under the names Custom Refinishing and Aesthetic Excellence. In 1990 he would marry his beautiful wife Deborah Carr Williamson in Ringgold, Ga after his mother played matchmaker.
As part owner of McCullum airport in Kennesaw, he had a passion for flying, often spending his time teaching female pilots for The Red Baroness Squadron. He flew with The Red Baroness Squadron in the air race over Six Flags where he was awarded the Very Important Pilot plaque. Clayton was a faithful member of the Roswell Street Baptist Church for over 20 years. He also enjoyed fishing, traveling, and his tradition of watching Georgia football, when the game was on, chatter was off.
Mr. Williamson is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter: Amanda Joy Harper; his step-daughter: Dominique Rainbow; his brother: Paul Williamson; his brother-in-law: Robert Carr; his dogs Cinnamon and Gracie, and cat, Sammy.
Survivors include his wife: Deborah Carr Williamson; his son: Clayton Williamson, Jr (Kelly); his daughters: Sherry Williamson; his granddaughter: Scocia; his nephew: Jimmy Williamson; his sisters-in-law: Cathy Grace (Rick) of Pasadena, TX, Jana Turco (Charlie) of Jersey Village, TX, Tana Weaver (Ray) of Jewett, TX, Mary Gayhart (Joseph);, seven nephews: Joshua, Jeremy, Eric, Joel, Randy, R.J., John Paul, Brian, John, and D.J.; two nieces: Misty and Angela; and special long-time friends: Rocio, Alex, Alexis, Elizabeth, and Ian.

I’m in shock since Clayton called a few days before Christmas. He spoke to GG, my Ecuadorian assistant and me about his health problems.We have been friends since 1949 when we met at Tufts College as Track and Field team mates. I was glad to call him one of my BEST friends. He knew me better than most. His wife Debbie is the best. I loved her Texas drawl and laughter with Clay.🥲🥲🥲🥲I shall certainly miss himsince he was one of a kind.

I knew him for many years, we had many jobs that he did for us. He used my shop at my house for years for his projects. I so enjoyed going up the hill to talk with him. Him had lived an eventful life and had passion for life. I will miss the stories & wisdom that he would share during that time. I asked him about his salvation and it was spot on, so I’ll see him again. He will be in heaven trying to the angels how a stain wood or fly a plane.

I have known Clayton since 2010 since his daughter Amanda lived with me from that time until her unfortunate passing in 2021. There were several times when he helped us out and he was just a great guy with a tremendous sense of humor. He will be missed.

Clayton was a great guy. I loved being around him and working with him. He always made me laugh and was one of the hardest working guys I have ever met. He amazed me at what he could do in his mid 80’s. He will be missed.

It just breaks my heart to know that I will never hear his cheerful voice on the phone asking me if I had a job for him. He could talk about anything and everything so conversation could be quite lengthy, but always so interesting. Very intelligent person , very charismatic. I always had a lot admiration for him. I hope he knew that. Cheers to a beautiful life he had!

Clayt and I first met July 1980 at my wedding to his brother Paul Currie Williamson, who has been with Lord since 8/11/02.
The camaraderie between these brothers was a blessing to be a part of and when the caustic wit of their Mum was added,, look out! Mum’s last two years were with us, bedridden, in Mount Dora, FL. Clayt and my precious sister Deborah were faithful to come visit from ATL. often. He was a loving son to his Mum and a brother to Paul.
My present husband (of ten years) Joseph Gayhart was also fond of Clayt and Deborah.
Clayt is greatly missed.
