Anthony Marvin Fortner, age 66 of Winder, GA, passed away Friday, January 6th, 2023.

Tony served proudly in the US Army for over 8 years making the rank of E-6 Staff Sergeant before spending the majority of his life in Manufacturing, maintenance, and repair, he retired after many years of hard work and issues with his health. Later in life, he enjoyed the full-time job of “Papa”, spending time with his Family, especially his Grandchildren. He enjoyed growing vegetables every summer with his granddaughters as his little helpers, traveling to the mountains, and taking in the beautiful views with the love of his life. His work took him all over the world which he enjoyed, taking in all new cultures and adventures.

Tony was faced with many health issues through the years, but he never gave up. He was always a strong fighter until the very end. He was a headstrong family man and a fierce protector. He will be missed by all.

Tony was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Julie Fortner, Father Albert M. Fortner, and mother Jesse Fortner (Campbell).

Tony is survived by his son Charles Fortner and daughter Jennifer Weaver; brother Timothy Fortner, sister-in-law Jenny Fortner; son-in-law Bryan Weaver, grandchildren Alexis Weaver (Lexie), Krysten Weaver, and Rachael Weaver, niece Jessica Fortner, plus numerous extended family, and friends.

The family will receive extended family and friends 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM on Friday, January 20, 2023, at Tim Stewart Funeral Home, 300 Simonton Road SW, Lawrenceville GA 30046.

The family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation, 3570 Buford Hwy #202, Duluth, GA 30096 (678) 584-0914.

    My heart took a plunge when he died. Such a good man, I regret we lost a lot of time over the years but am so pleased to be part of his family again. Some of my sweetest childhood memories include him & Timmy. I heard bells ringing.,,did you get your wings yet? ❤️🙏🏻🎉🎶🎵
