Wilburn “David” Ezell age 75, of Columbus, GA passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2023.
David was born in Slocomb, AL on June 4, 1947 to the late Albert Ezell and Nona Bolin Ezell.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his loving wife Laverne Ezell, daughter Michelle Knuckles, granddaughter Kimberly Chatham, and brother Donald Ezell.
David was a long time resident of Columbus, GA. He attended Jordan Vocational High School. He retired from Humphreys Associates in 2010 as a Construction Superintendent. David worked in construction his entire life, he started painting houses with his daddy at a very young age.
David lived life to the fullest, he was a hard working loving husband, daddy, brother, granddaddy and great-granddaddy. In his younger years he loved taking his family camping, boating, fishing and on beach vacations. He enjoyed bowling and playing golf. Once middle age hit he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was the captain of the harley group and led many rides. After the death of his wife of 44 years, he spent his time with his great grandchildren. The last 12 years of his life was spent with his companion Elsie, they enjoyed dancing, music, poetry and art.
David is survived by his daughter Tabitha (Lynn) Sands, grandson David Chatham, granddaughter Lindsey Sands, grandson Christian (Jessica) McMillion, granddaughter Cheyenne Sands, granddaughter Danielle Knuckles. Sister Grace Davis, Sister Mildred Davis, brother Roger Ezell, brother Paul Ezell, brother John (Barbara)Ezell, and brother George Ezell, 10 great grandchildren Austin, Abbygail, Jensen, Elizabeth, DJ, Christopher, Brynleigh, Emerson, TJ, Kallie, many nieces nephews, companion Elsie and her children Alison(Billy), Claire(Gordon), Rebecca
A Memorial Service will be Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Midway Baptist Church : 2495 Hopewell Church Rd, Pine Mountain, GA. 31822 @ 2pm. Visitation with the family will be after the service at the home of his daughter Tabitha Sands. A private burial at the Whitesville Cemetery next to his wife Laverne will be in July. His grandson Christian has a special tribute that will take place before the service outside the church, so arrive about 15 minutes early to be part of this special celebration.
Georgia Cremation-Columbus is assisting the family.

Pop is a great man i never got to be as close as i would haved loved too i was in construction in columbus from 1980 till 1994 and delivered a many roof trusses and floor trusses to humprey contruction and probably talk to pop a many a day but did not know him at that time HE WILL LIVE IN ALL OF US FOR EVER
