Roland Gene Moody was born on December 30, 1945, in Louisville, MS, to Albert and Jessie Moody. He passed from this life on August 3, 2023, at his home in Peachtree Corners, GA.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Beth Strickland, daughter Jessica Moody Welch (Woody), their children Parker, Davis, and Ellis Welch; son Eric Roland Moody, his children Lillie and Turner; daughter Emily Moody Maxcy (Johnny), their children Chappell, Rollins and Ensley Gene; brother John Moody (Beckie), sisters-in-law Linda Raff and Sandra Waide (David), and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was raised in Prentiss, MS, and graduated from Mississippi College in Clinton, MS. He loved old American classic cars. He also loved to travel, especially to the Far East. His career in retail brought him to Georgia in 1985. In 2000, he left retail to work full-time in foreign missions until his retirement at age 70.
Roland truly loved his neighbor as himself. He leaves behind a legacy of Christ-like compassion and mercy in his family and friends.
We will celebrate his life this Friday, August 11th at Peachtree Corners Baptist Church, 4480 Peachtree Corners Circle, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092. Visitation is at 1:00 PM and service will follow at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Adult Day of Dunwoody.
Georgia Cremation in Duluth is assisting the family with arrangements.

Sorry to hear about Roland. I met him when I was a student at Hinds Community College and was introduced to him by my brother. While I was still at Hinds, Roland hired me to work part time for him at McRae’s Department Store. Working for him was not work but fun. Sometimes I would call him R. G. and he would smile and shake his head. I appreciate the opportunity to know him as a friend and supervisor. I will surely miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with Mary Beth and the family.
