Grady Wallace Turner, Jr. passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024, after visiting a driving range to do what he truly loved, hitting golf balls. Bo, also called Wally-Bo, Butch, Uncle Bo, Dad and his favorite, GrandBo, had heart disease with a bad painful knee and other maladies that he did not allow to stop him from moving on with strong determination to keep enjoying his life. He was preceded in death by his loving and loved parents, Grady Wallace Turner and Eleanor Ruth (McCoy) Turner. He is survived by his wife, Patsy, his sons, their wives, and his beloved grandchildren.
He was born in Cartersville, Georgia, on September 15, 1943. He graduated from Cartersville High School and went on to attend West Georgia College. He began a career in sales and continued for the remainder of his working years. He enjoyed meeting people, and everyone felt that when he made his sales calls.
He and his wife, Patsy (Gilstrap), met in Atlanta, and, as said often, the rest is history. Theirs was a true love story. Recently, they renewed wedding vows for their 50th anniversary with their son, Blake, and his wife, Kim, son, Drew and his wife, Kari as attendants. Grandson, Dutch (first name, Wallace) was his best man, and granddaughter, Reagan, was their maid of honor. His youngest granddaughters, Tyler and Darcy, were flower girls.
GrandBo was genuinely proud of his family and loved them so much. I know his wish for them was to always remember and feel his enormous pride, unending support, and LOVE for them…AND his laughter! He was a great husband, father, father-in-law, friend and an especially good GrandBo. Bo loved his wife’s family and became a big, older, sometimes aggravating, brother to his wife’s sister, Kay, and her husband, Ted, and to her brother Dennis and his wife Thelma. He also was a good, and sometimes goofy Uncle Bo.
Bo loved all kinds of music, Ga. Tech, golf, and his years of boating and skiing on Lake Lanier. His boat was dubbed “Ms. Nervous” since his wife, Patsy, was not quite as comfortable on the water as he was. He did manage to convince her to water-ski, at least once a year, and then manage to throw her for a gigantic splash and laugh while pulling her into the boat for a big hug. Bo truly loved the beach and enjoyed so many family times there with his favorite music playing good and loud. I know and trust our sons and families will keep those memories and play their music good, and even louder, in memory and tribute to their Dad. I will say again that he loved anything Georgia Tech.
Bo Turner smiled and laughed a lot. He might laugh at you occasionally, but, always with you. He enjoyed having and sharing good times with family and friends. Please hold that as your memory when you think of Bo.
A service in remembrance and celebration of Bo’s life will be at Mt. Bethel Church, 4385 Lower Roswell Road, Marietta, Georgia on Tuesday, March 5 at 11 am.

Bo had a deep faith that he would reunite with friends and family. My consolation and belief is that he’s on a beach or golf course now, wearing a Tech hat, listening to his favorite music, maybe the Eagles, and laughing with everyone there…

Kay Kay and Tedro says
Oh, Bo, my big brother from another mother, how I miss you already! I have known you since I was 14 and, yes, as Patsy said, you were good at aggravating the bejeebers out of me, but it was always done with laughter and love! You were really a wonderful guy with the biggest heart, even though you didn’t want everyone in on that secret!! Ted and I loved you so very much and will lift a glass of good Scotch to you, probably more often than we should. I know you will be watching over Patsy and all the family and we will be doing the same and thinking of you. Love you, Bo Turner!! Your little sister, Kay Kay

This describes Bo beautifully, and exactly as I knew him! Bo loved his family immensely, which was abundantly clear every time I was around him. I will definitely remember him for that, as well as his laughter that brightened a room. I’m sending much love and lifting the entire Turner family up in prayer as you process this loss.

Drew,
Heart felt condolences from Jack and I. We are so very sorry for your loss. What a wonderful, smile-inducing obit/tribute. We remember Bo from the ballpark of course and also from the lake. The many weekends we would pull up to the boat storage (Jack and Larry’s) and see you and your dad ready to head out, too. Please give your mom our best. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers, and are indeed blessed to have such priceless memories to always make you smile.
Fondly, Karen & Jack Woodall
David, Jr. says
There are hardly any words I can express for the sadness I feel. There are just so many memories of growing up together.
Playing and many other mischievous experiences we had at Mama Turner’s. The great fun we had locking Charlotte and Aunt Moke in the out house, until Uncle Ralph caught us and whipped our butts. We were on different teams in little league baseball but we made it fun. We played football together our freshman year in high school. You were the quarter back and fat so me was your blocker.
I could write a book of fun memories just too many to mention. We always had fun and lots of laughs.
I’m so thankful for that last special visit we had the day before your heavenly home going. I would have never thought that would end our time on earth, but you just keep your eyes on that golden gate because in time you will see me coming. I love you precious cousin you will always live in my ❤️..

Bo, I already miss you, my whisky drinking golf buddy! I had looked so much forward to our golf outings this year but that will have to wait until we meet in golf heaven. Please, check out the courses there so we don’t waste time playing the bad ones! Our thoughts and prayers goes to Patsy, the kids and the grand kids.
See you, Ranger Bo!

Mrs. Turner and family,
I had the good fortune to play golf with Bo as well as work with him at Heritage Golf Links. Always had a good time with Bo and always enjoyed his company and his on-going commentary on golf, politics and life in general. Always talked about his family and how blessed he was to have them. Bo was definitely one of the “good guys”. My condolences on your loss. As I said he was one of the good guys. Geoff Sandels
