In Loving Memory of Michael Lowe
May 27, 1966 – February 8, 2024
Michael Lowe was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Michael departed this life on February 8, 2024, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, literature, and the indelible impact of his generous spirit.
Michael was born in Boston, Massachusetts on May 27, 1966, to Sandra Anita Lowe and Willie Harvey Lowe. His life was a tapestry of deep affection for his cultural roots and an unwavering passion for love in all its forms. His journey took him from the halls of Copley High School to the classrooms of North Adams College, forging a path that would see him become a beloved author of love stories, essays, and poems. Michael’s works resonated with many, touching hearts with his earnest exploration of love’s complexities and joys.
In November 2016, Michael made the move to Georgia with the love of his life, Marcia. It was here, amidst the warmth of the south, that he continued to weave his narratives of love, always drawing inspiration from the world and the people around him.
Michael’s life was a testament to the power of love, not only in his writings but in his everyday actions. He was a devoted husband to Marcia, whom he first met in the summer of 1984. After a year of dating, their paths diverged only to reunite with a love that had endured, leading them to marriage on July 11, 2022. Together, they embarked on countless adventures, traveling, indulging in good food—especially breakfast, enjoying live music, festivals, museums, musicals, sports, and gaming on PlayStation. Their love was a beacon, guiding them through life’s trials and triumphs.
A family man at heart, Michael was a loving father to Emily Denisha Lowe, Dakota Lowe, Delisa Fleming, and Terrance Creech. He took immense pride in his role as a grandfather to Jazaiah Morse, Nevaeh Cherilus, Semaj Brown, the late James Brown, Brielle Creech, and Lorenzo Long, and as a great-grandfather to Jakhari Vincent. Each child and grandchild was a precious gift to Michael, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Michael was a planner and a giver, always thinking ahead to make occasions special for those he loved. His generosity knew no bounds, and his ability to give from the heart made him a cherished figure in the lives of many.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Marcia Lowe, his children: Denisha, Dakota, Terrance and Delisa; his grandchildren: Jazaiah, Nevaeh, Semaj, Brielle and Lorenzo; his great-grand Jakhari; his siblings Barbara Lowe, Josette Hill (Lowe), Gordon Lowe, Juanita Wayne, Andrea Wayne, Christine McGee, Joaquim Custard, and Sean Colwell; his parents-in-love Jerome and Dorothy Custard, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews, cousins, friends, and childhood friends. Michael was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Sandra Anita Lowe and Willie Harvey Lowe, as well as his grandson, James Brown.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we find comfort in the memories and the words he left behind, reminders of a life well-lived and love well-given. Rest in peace, Michael; your story continues in the hearts of those you’ve touched.
Poem written by Michael Lowe:
Life is such a balancing act. Always searching for moments of silence amidst the noise. Holding on in order to truly let go. Forever choosing to get up and never give in. A intricate rose blooming in the abyss. A caterpillar relishing in the crawl necessary to become a butterfly and fly. Trying to live each day with purpose-filled patience. To not be expectant but observant, resilient and thankful. I pray with each new breath I’m blessed with that I continue to balance this act called life with dignity, grace and humility. ~michael lowe
