Patricia Belanger Bjorkland, age 77, passed away peacefully on June 2nd, 2024, with her family by her side. She was born August 23rd, 1946, in Harford, CT to Genevieve Kasek and Clifford Rodman Belanger.
While becoming a young mom of three children within a 4-year timespan, Pat worked for over 35 years in the Banking industry from entry level encoding to Operations Manager to becoming a Paralegal representing the company.
Pat followed her calling for warmth and sunshine to relocate to Volusia County, Florida. She enjoyed the beach, water aerobics, music, dancing, casino trips, cruises, and camping/vanning (without snow!). New England remained a large part of her life with her continued devotion to UCONN Women’s basketball, the New England Patriots and her go to favorite, Maine lobster.
She was happiest spending time surrounded by family and friends catching up with home cooked meals/treats, celebrating holidays and enjoying cookouts/barbeques.
Pat will be remembered for her fierce love of family, independence, strength, and always feisty personality.
She leaves behind her former husband and friend, Thomas H Bjorkland, Sr. She is survived by her 3 children, daughter Lauren J Bjorkland of Elkton, MD, son Thomas H Bjorkland, Jr and his wife Lisa of Columbia, CT, and daughter Cheryl A Chabre and her husband Marcel of Midland, GA. She cherished her 4 grandchildren: Megan E Chabre, Damion P Bjorkland, Gunnar N Bjorkland, and Mallory A Chabre along with her many nieces, nephews, and friends. Pat is predeceased by both her parents, sisters Delores Callendar and June Nerine Pinto, brothers Fred Nerine, Clifford Belanger, Robert Belanger, and grandson Gunnar N Bjorkland.
A celebration of life will be planned in the future at the convenience of the family. Tributes and words of condolence can be made through her online obituary.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage and appreciate a donation made to “Festival of Giving Trees”.

I’ve known Pat for most of my life. We grew up in the same town and her mom and mine were friends. I still think about the times we went roller skating and for drives in her car. Though I hadn’t seen her for years, we still communicated thru Facebook. Pat, you are in some of my fondest memories. May God cradle you in his loving arms.
Anne Bjorkland O'Brien says
Tommy, Lauren and Cheryl, Your mom loved you so much. She lived for her family, and felt the most joy when the house was full with your laughter, or going on family trips. This included Grandma B for sure! My sincere condolences.

I didn’t see this obituary until now. Pat was a wonderful friend and shortly before her death we went to a concert together! I had no idea how sick she really was. She left behind a lot of Our Lady of Hope/VFW friends including me. I cherish her memory.
