Mr. Monty Eugene Reese, age 74, of Griffin, passed away July 21, 2024.

Monty was born in National City, California on June 9, 1950, to the late Theodore Albert Reese and Juanita Olsen Reese. He grew up in Dehesa Valley in El Cajon, CA alongside his parents and brother and sister. After graduating Granite Hills high school in El Cajon, CA, Monty went on to attend San Diego State University. While attending San
Diego State, Monty met the love of his life, Brenda, at a Saturday Night Dance hosted by the University of San Diego on a different campus. Monty and Brenda shared a blissful 53-year marriage full of love, memories, and family. The couple had two daughters, Alecia and Peggy.

He lived in many different places, but his favorites were Dehesa Valley in El Cajon, CA and Port Angeles, WA. Monty was a very hard-working man. He began his career as a tire buster and worked his way up to Director of Advertising in the Southern California Group Office. He went on to hold the Senior VP of Marketing and Advertisement position for the several different companies across the United states. Those companies
include Handyman, Builders Square, Ernst Home and Nursery, CSK (Checkers, Shucks and Kragen), Home Quarters, ending his career at Michaels Arts and Crafts.

Monty was very active in the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in California, Texas, and Virginia. He was a Head Elder, Pathfinder Director, School Board Director, and Sabbath School Teacher. He was a devoted Christian and people knew him as a man of God. He was also the President of the Dehesa School District in El Cajon California. A position he was very proud to hold.

He enjoyed playing the game of tennis, camping with his loved ones, traveling, and working in his yard. He spent his retirement years taking cross-country road trips and cruising the world.

Monty will be remembered as an amazing son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was highly respected by everyone he worked for or with.

Monty is preceded in death by his parents: Theodore and Juanita Reese of Cajon, CA; his brother: Larry Reese of Cottonwood, AZ; and his sister: Shirley Hyer of Kingston Springs, TN. He is survived by his loving wife: Brenda L. Reese; his daughter, Alecia Marie Smith, His Son-In-Law Jody Matthew Smith, and daughter Ashley Peggy Jolene Reese; his grandson: Logan Matthew Smith; his granddaughter: Lindsey Marie Smith; and his Great-granddaughter: Neveah Grace Smith. He also leaves behind his special fur baby: Millie Rose.

A private graveside service for Monty will be held at a later date.
