Gray William Jensen, of Suwanee, Georgia, passed away on July 27, 2024. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Linda; two children and their spouses, Dana (Mark Leong), and Kai (Kimberlee); and six grandchildren, Draysen, Maverik, Davin, Mason, Marshall, and Gabriel. He lived an exciting and adventurous life as an abalone diver, boat builder, and general contractor/developer, and was known for his ever-persistent optimism and moral character.
“Gray was my strength and confidence, and ultimately made me a better person,” said his wife, Linda Jensen. “He was happy and always the optimist. He made anything seem possible as long as we did it together and he loved his family with an unending passion. I will miss his smile!”
Born November 30, 1940, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Gray was the oldest of 5 and looked at to help raise and care for his younger siblings during tough times. His childhood included time in Utah and California before he eventually joined the U.S. Air Force in 1958 and served honorably until his discharge in 1962.
His time after being discharged included working for the Orange County Chamber of Commerce, becoming a commercial diver and boat builder, and meeting his future wife, Linda. They married in 1980 and moved to Hawaii in 1982 where they bought land and he built various rental properties that are still being used to this day. Here they raised their two children Dana and Kai before moving back to Utah in the early 90s.
He spent the next 30 years as a land developer and builder in Morgan and other areas along the Wasatch Mountains before eventually retiring. He and Linda then moved to Georgia in 2021 to be closer to family where they enjoyed their time being in the south while making new lifelong friends.
“Most of who I am is from my dad. My family will strive to honor his memory with his positivity, as well as a smile and kind word. We will make you proud dad.” – Dana Leong
“Farewell dad. You made a positive and memorable impact on your friends and family, and you will be missed and remembered by all.” – Kai Jensen.
Per his wishes, his ashes will be spread at sea in Hawaii by his family at a later time.
