Shirley Kay Sherfield, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024. She was born on April 3, 1941, and leaves behind a legacy of compassion and devotion. Shirley was a nurturing spirit who dedicated her life to her family and her love for animals, creating cherished memories and instilling deep-rooted family values.
Shirley retired from her meaningful career at Cook Medical, where she was known for her dedication and warm-hearted nature. Her fierce love for her family was evident in every aspect of her life; she cared deeply for those around her and embraced every moment with an open heart.
Preceding her in death are her beloved husband, Stanley Sherfield; her daughter Nancy Stancombe; her sister Nancy Moore; and her two sons, Steven Stancombe and Melvin Scott Stancombe. Shirley’s absence will be profoundly felt by her surviving family, including her eldest son, Edward Stancombe (Ellen); her daughter, Brenda Jablonsky (Ron); her son, Billy Stancombe (Gail); and her twelve grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life. She is also survived by her brother, Billy Davis, as well as several nieces and nephews who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Shirley’s warmth, laughter, and unwavering love will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family will announce services at a future date, and they invite all who loved her to join in
celebrating her remarkable life. Though she has departed from this world, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Rest in peace, Shirley Kay Sherfield. Your love will continue to inspire us every day.
