Len Beaudoin, 89, of Columbus, Georgia passed away at home on Saturday, March 22, 2025. A funeral mass will be held at St. Anne Catholic Church in Columbus, Georgia on Friday, March 28, 2025 at noon.
Len Beaudoin, or Big Len as he was known to family and friends, was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 10, 1935. He moved to Cincinnati, Ohio during his childhood where he graduated from Purcell Catholic High School. Len earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Dayton and was a member of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps for the United States Marine Corps. During college, he met Ann Louise Westerkamp, whom he married two years later, celebrating over 65 years of marriage in their life together.
Following graduation, Len became a commissioned officer in the Marine Corps, serving over 20 years with distinction and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1980. He completed three overseas tours, two in Okinawa and one in Vietnam. After retirement, Len held leadership positions in Management Information Systems at Burnham Service Corporation, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Kinnett Dairies (later Parmalat Dairies).
Len is survived by his wife, Ann Louise; his four children Amy Neff (Chris) of Columbus, Georgia, Melissa Hatala (Tom) of Columbus, Georgia, Susan Dixon (Tom) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Lenny Beaudoin of New York, New York; ten grandchildren Emily Botello (Alex), Meghan Levy (David), Jessica Porter (Steven), Ben Hatala (Ashley), Jonathan David (Samantha), Sam Hatala, Emma Hatala, Adam Neff, Leo Beaudoin, Charlie Beaudoin; seven great-grandchildren Hazel, Isaac, Henry, Stella, Grace, Oliver, and Nora; and his dog Bentley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Mildred Beaudoin.
