Don Eugene Edge, age 72, passed away on March 12, 2025 at Magnolia Manor Care Facility in Columbus, Georgia.
Don was born March 17, 1952 in Columbus, Georgia to LeDon Eugene Edge and Connie Sue Warcop Edge. Don was known for being a hard worker and provider. At the age of 9, Don lost his father in death. Don took up a paper route at this young age to help provide for his mother and two younger siblings. On May 7, 1971, he married the love of his life, JoAnne Gilbert. Soon after, they expanded their family and had two daughters, Alicia and then Leslie. Family was always of the utmost importance to him.
Don worked as a roofer and a plumber in his early adult years and served an apprenticeship in the Plumber’s Union. He also worked in the maintenance department of Callaway Chemical for over 10 years. He left Callaway Chemical to engage in his own business. He was the CEO of D.E. Edge Enterprises, Edge and Company Maintenance and The Colors Edge. Under the companies he maintained cleaning, waxing and stripping commercial floors, he and his wife ran a janitorial business and lastly, he did paint and dent repair on automobiles. Don was described by one prominent, local business owner as “the most honest man I have ever met.” He was well known for his honesty.
Don also had a love for music. He enjoyed playing on his guitar and spending time on his porch swing listening to a variety of music. He enjoyed feeding his hummingbirds and deer and watching them from his porch swing. Family and friends spent a lot of time enjoying those things with him. He was generous with his time and joy of helping others, and he never expected anything in return.
On April 7, 1973, Don dedicated his life to Jehovah God and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He served in several congregations over the years but was a member of the Cataula Congregation, of Midland, Ga at the time of his death. Don’s faith in Jehovah God was strong and in Jehovah’s promises for his future. This helped Don endure to the end.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, LeDon Edge and Connie Edge Smith, his brother, Michael Edwin Edge, his aunt, Betty Marlene Warcop, his uncle, Gary Michael Warcop, and his grandson, Bailey Day.
