It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Margaret “Vivian” Deason. After a battle with cancer Vivian passed peacefully on April 29, 2025 at the age of 87.
She was born October 23, 1937 in Phenix City, Alabama to Harry and Alice Newsome.
Underneath a stoic tough exterior was a heart of gold. Her sky blue eyes held a certain sparkle of laughter and hope. Always Quick Witted and ready with a humorous antidote.
Vivian was a kindhearted woman and always giving to others above herself. She had an open door welcoming anyone in her home who needed shelter and a friend.
Widowed at an early age she became a strong independent woman, and she worked hard supporting her family on her own. She spent her working years at Dolly Madison and retired to enjoy reading, flower gardening and baking the most delicious pound cakes. She especially enjoyed front porch swings and sweet tea and old James Garner movies.
Always a bountiful source of family ancestry. Her favorite annual event was the Newsome Family Reunion. And with her sons, her daughter, Grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren She was so proud that there were five generations of her family living and would brag to anyone who would willing to listen.
With her beautiful precise handwriting she was forever writing down positive affirmations and encouraging words. She enjoyed the daily affirmations from Joel Osteen and the books of Joyce
Meyer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Alice Newsome, Brothers Lloyd Newsome, Bernard Newsome and Joseph Newsome, Her husband Charles McGuire, Son Kenneth McGuire and Son Tom McGuire
She is survived by her Brother Robin Newsome, Son Mitchell Deason, Son Larry McGuire and daughter Lynda McGuire Yarbrough, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
Her memory, love and the lessons she taught us will stay with us forever.
Georgia Cremation-Columbus is assisting the family with the arrangements.
