Paul Russell Almond Sr.

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Paul Russel Almond, Sr., was born on September 22, 1944, and went to be with the Lord on April 28, 2025.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lynn Almond; son, James Almond; sister and her husband, Marie and Richard English; brother and his wife, John and Nancy Almond; grandchildren, Victoria, Gabriel, Brandon, Logan, Justin, Jackson Almond; great granddaughter, RaeLynn Higgins; daughter in law, Jennifer Almond; former daughter in law, Mary Gregory; sister in law and her husband, Sharon and Ronald Holt; friend and caregiver, Jason Gregory, three nieces, two great nephews and his loyal dog and companion, Ellie.

He was predeceased by his parents, James and Bertha Almond, and his son, Paul Russell (Rusty) Almond, Jr.

Paul grew up in Atlanta, where he attended West Fulton High School and played football. After graduation, his love of cars led him to the automobile parts industry, where he worked until he retired.

He always attended everything his children and grandchildren were involved in, from the church’s children’s choir, band concerts, soccer, horseback riding, etc.

Of his many titles, son, brother, husband, dad, and uncle, his favorites were Poppy and Paw Paw, the names given to him by his grandchildren.

He loved to watch sports:  Golf, which he also played, the Braves, Falcons, and NASCAR, especially the Hendrick’s guys. However, none of these compares to his love for the Georgia Bulldogs.

We love him and miss him every day, but rejoice in the fact that he is with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and is no longer suffering.

Paul’s memorial service will be held July 12, 2025, at Gwinnett Community Church, 2516 Five Forks Trickum Road, SW, Lawrenceville, GA 30044.  Visitation is at 12:00 PM with the service to follow at 1:00 PM. Please dress in casual clothing.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you perform an act of kindness for someone in need.
