Velma Juanita (Nita) Morgan Quinn
1925-2025
Mrs. Nita Quinn of Columbus, GA passed over into the streets of glory on June 3, 2025 at Columbus Hospice House at the age of 100. She was born in Cusseta, Georgia on March 2, 1925, the oldest of eight siblings, to the late Raphael and Bernice Morgan of Waverly Hall, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clinton Wesley Quinn, her granddaughter, Amy Franklin and great grandson, Carson Stone, as well as 3 brothers, J.T., Junior and Richard Morgan and two sisters-Catherine Willis and Sarah Ginn. She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Franklin Gerth (George) and Shirley Stone (Bob), four grandchildren-Jonathan Quinn Franklin, Christy Hume Saxon, Michael Wesley Stone and Matthew Bryan Stone; 3 great-grandchildren-Brianna Stone, Hailey Stone and Jesse Saxon; one great-great grandson-Aiden Peters; two sisters, Libba Pierce and JoAnn Harp, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nita accepted Christ at a little country church called Bethel started by her husband’s grandfather in 1922. She faithfully served the Lord at both Midway and St. Mark Methodist churches. She was an inspiration to all who met her, exemplifying a Christlike nature by her loving, caring and kind demeanor-always putting others above herself. She was tender, humble yet strong and independent. She was a Southern lady of poise, dignity and grace-a true Proverbs 31:10-31 virtuous woman. She was an excellent homemaker-an extraordinary cook, a meticulous seamstress, an avid gardener, bird lover, and Braves fan.
She spoke with wisdom and faithful instruction, teaching us how to live and how to grow old gracefully setting the bar high-with her positive attitude and quiet acceptance, her strong determination to persevere amid adverse circumstances.
She was deeply loved and cherished-the world was truly blessed with her presence-especially by her family and friends.
The family will hold a private graveside service to celebrate her life at a later date. Those wishing to honor her memory can make a donation to their favorite charity.
Georgia Cremation-Columbus is assisting the family with the arrangements.
