Andrew Carey Ledford
Age 58, of McDonough, Georgia, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loved ones on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. Born August 31, 1967, to Brenda Cofer and Don Ledford, Andy had a distinguished career as a Special Agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation spending countless hours on the range teaching and mentoring while serving as the agency’s Firearms Coordinator.
Andy had a gift for turning ordinary moments into extraordinary memories. Whether he was planning the next family trip or finding a new bourbon distillery to visit, he did it with joy and a joke at the ready. Andy’s children were his greatest accomplishments.
Whether quietly coaching his son at a trap shoot or his daughter on the mat for cheer, supporting his kids in this way was one of his greatest joys, and he treasured every moment they shared. Casino lights and blackjack tables were as familiar as small-town porches-he embraced life fully. He was especially proud of his family and friends who surrounded them, and he never missed an opportunity to share a dad joke or whip out a one-liner that left everyone smiling (and occasionally rolling their eyes). In Andy’s company, laughter was always part of the itinerary. He will be deeply missed but joyfully remembered by all who knew him.
Andy found joy in community service, coaching 4-H Shooting Sports, mentoring youth, and serving as a proud member of the Star Wars 501st Legion as TK22308 where he suited up as a Stormtrooper or TIE Fighter visiting children’s hospitals, marching in parades, and holding the hands of children facing difficult times – always working to bring a smile to their faces and encouraging them to “stay in the fight!”
He is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy Hammond Ledford, and his children, Ethan and Addison, of McDonough. Survivors also include his sister, Haley Shackelford of Nashville, TN, and numerous extended family members. He was preceded in death by his mother, Brenda.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, September 18, at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church, 4 North Bethany Rd, McDonough, Georgia 30252. The celebration will be officiated by Pastor Kevin Daniel and will offer an opportunity for all to share a good story in his memory. At Addison’s request, please add a splash of color to your attire to make everyone smile just as her father always did. A visitation will follow the service in the Fellowship Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Andrew Ledford Memorial Fund in support of his children’s education: https://giveahand.com/fundraiser/andrew-ledford-memorial

Andy was truly one of a kind that our Lord and Savior made special. Andy was not only a great friend, but he was also a brother to so many that he loved and was loved by so many. Andy always knew how to make you smile with his witty humor and cared deeply for those he loved.
We cherish all of the fond memories we had together during our Georgia College years and years after. His memory will live on forever, and I am so blessed to have had the honor of calling Andy a dear friend.

I met Andy online, building reproduction WW1 Fokker Triplanes. He was fun to compare notes with and swap parts with. I hoped to see his aircraft finished one day. Just a great guy and already deeply missed. See you in the skies, brother. God Bless. 🙏🏻❤️

Howdy Cindy, Ethan, and Addison.
Who’d o that a conversation about a shotgun 4 years ago at AL State shoot would have led us to become family friends. I have so enjoyed our fellowship traveling to all the Southern states and Grand American across the Mason Dixon line. Andy and I enjoyed many meaningful and memorable conversations after Ethan turned in. Sometimes over a shot of fine Bourbon from Andy’s briefcase. He truly loved y’all. Andy was loved and respected by everyone on the ATA circuit and that’s a tough crowd. Monica and I love y’all and are always here for you. Blessed in the sight of the Lord is the death of His Saints

Cindy, my heart is broken and I know yours is also. Although my respect for Andy began many years ago while on the firing range, my respect grew deeper during the last three years of my GBI career while Rob and I had the pleasure to get to know you and Andy more personally. I know the day, weeks, and months ahead will be tremendously difficult but I pray that you can find peace as you carry so many sweet memories of him in your heart.
