Mary “Denise” Brewer-Gang

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Mary “Denise” Brewer-Gang 56, of Smith Station, Alabama, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025.

Denise was born on May 13, 1969, in Greenville, South Carolina, to the late Frank Hindman and Mary Jo Morrison. She graduated from Harris County High School in 1987. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Columbus State University and later became the 4-H Coordinator for the UGA Cooperative Extension in Muscogee County. In this role, she dedicated herself to mentoring and guiding the youth in the 4-H program, managing staff, designing curricula, and coordinating impactful events. Her commitment to young people left a lasting impression on many lives.

For the past seven years, Denise worked at Sun Gas in Smith Station, Alabama, where she managed the office with the same care and dedication she brought to all aspects of her life.

Denise was a passionate gardener who found joy in growing and canning her own produce, and also in tending to her many houseplants and flowers. She also loved woodworking, cooking, and reading. A devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves, Denise took immense pride in supporting her son’s baseball career. She cherished being a “baseball mom,” always there for her son and steadfast in nurturing his skills. Her dedication extended beyond her family as she actively led community service projects, encouraging youth involvement in making a positive difference. Denise also loved taking the youngest 4-H members to Cloverleaf Camp at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center, where she could share her love of learning and the outdoors with the next generation.

Throughout her life, Denise worked tirelessly to help others believe in themselves and reach their full potential. Her passion for education, along with her nurturing and creative spirit, will continue to live on in the many lives she touched.

Denise was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Randy Brewer; her father, Frank Allen Hindman; and her brother, Thomas Allen Hindman.

She is survived by her loving husband, Gerald (Jerry) Gang; her son, Michael Daniel Brewer; her mother, Mary Jo Morrison (Columbus, GA); four sisters, Myra McMillan (Midland, GA), Tracy Payne, Karen Medlock, and Shirley Tucker (Greer, SC); five stepchildren; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends; and her six dogs, who were her constant companions.

Denise will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on October 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM, with visitation beginning at 1:00 PM at Greater Life Baptist Church, 305 Old Grey Rock Rd., Midland, GA 31820.

Georgia Cremation-Columbus is assisting the family with the arrangements.
