Teri Hulzenga passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025 at the age of 86. Born in Friesland of the Netherlands, Teri immigrated to New York at the age of 14 with her parents, Klaas and Kornelia Hulzenga and her brothers, William and Clarence.
Teri revered her American citizenship and lived a long, full life ranging from Powder Springs, GA to mid-town Atlanta and finally to her beloved home in Columbus, NC. Teri dearly loved her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
Throughout her life, Teri created beauty in her interior decorating, artwork, and sewing. She took daily joy in the delights of nature and seeing the hand of God in even the smallest blessing. Teri loved thrifting and baking Dutch desserts, but, most of all, she loved being Oma.
Teri often quoted this prayer: “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” She worshipped regularly with the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg’s broadcasted Sunday services. She also enjoyed volunteering for over fifteen years at the Steps to Hope Thrift Store in downtown Columbus.
Teri Hulzenga is survived by her brother Clarence Hulzenga (Sandy) and her children Michalle Greene Tucker (David); Tom Greene (Kristen); Deborah Greene Noland (Mark); and Kimberly Greene Angle (Marshall). She leaves a lasting legacy in her wonderful grandchildren and great- grandchildren: Taylor Cuthbertson Lopez (Rey); Jessica Tucker Wyatt (Matt); Chesna Greene; Anna Tucker Cali (Anthony); Connor Noland; Maslyn Greene Franklin (Buddy); Lochlan Angle; and Elaina Angle. Great- grandchildren include Noah Lopez, Brooke Wyatt, Lucy Wyatt, and Thomas Franklin.
Teri was also deeply loved by nieces, nephews, life-long companions, and her Dutch
family.
The family will hold a Memorial Service for Teri in Georgia this Thanksgiving season. To honor Teri’s life, please consider donating to the mission of the Thrift Store where she was a long-time and devoted volunteer, Steps to Hope. (828)894-2340 https://www.stepstohope.org/donate

Lieve Teri,

Dear Teri,
We were blessed to have so many beautiful memories together with you—memories that will stay with us for a lifetime. Not only from the vacations back and forth, but also from the support you gave us and Mom (Wil) during the final period of her life.
We had hoped to be able to say goodbye to you in the last phase of your life, but sadly you were already too weak. But the memories and you will forever remain in our hearts.
Rest in peace,
Dave, Diana, Nick, and Mike
