Ann McMullen Hull

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Ann McMullen Hull, 72, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital surrounded by her loved ones. Ann Patricia was born March 22, 1953, in Hartford, Connecticut. She was the daughter of James and Mary McMullen and the oldest of 7 children. She moved to Hendersonville, NC in 1963, where she attended Immaculata Catholic School and graduated from East Henderson High School (1971). She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina Asheville in 1975 and was a cheerleader during her time there. Following graduation, Ann served our country as an officer in the US Army. Later, she became a certified exceptional children’s teacher in Columbus, GA and expressed great fulfillment regarding her work.

Ann loved sharing stories from her childhood, filled with memories of playing the piano, cheering, dancing, playing basketball, participating in Girl Scouts, and attending summer camps in North Carolina. She had an endless collection of tales about time spent with her family, which she treasured deeply. Ann found joy in reading, writing, and staying closely connected with her loved ones. She enjoyed gathering with those close to her, sharing good food and conversation, and being a part of the moment. Her love for animals was evident in the care she gave to her own pets and her affection for those belonging to family and friends. She attended Edgewood Baptist Church and gave back to her community by volunteering in her free time.

Ann cherished her role as a devoted wife to Anthony and a loving mother to her three sons. In the last decade of her life, she found immense joy in being a grandmother, spending hours playing games and engaging in any activity her grandchildren invited her into. She embraced every opportunity to be with her loved ones. Her kindness and genuine warmth left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Francis McMullen, her mother, Mary Elizabeth Collins McMullen, her sister, Moira Elizabeth McMullen Taylor, her brother, James Leo McMullen, and her two brothers-in-law, John Seaton Taylor and Brian Preston.

Ann is survived by her husband, Joseph Anthony Hull, of 36 years, her children, David Mackie (Melissa), Daniel Mackie (Crystal), and James Hull, her five grandchildren, Charlotte, Micah, Lila, Dallas, and Abigail, her siblings, Katie McMullen Preston (the late Brian Preston) of Durham, NC, Peggy McMullen Voyles (Steve) of Jacksonville, NC, Joe McMullen (Nancy) of Park Ridge, IL, John McMullen of Portland, OR, fourteen nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

A Celebration of Life for Ann will be held at 3pm EST on January 10, 2026, at Cooper Creek Park, #2 Pavilion. The address is 5089 Cooper Creek Road, Columbus, GA 31907. All who knew and loved Ann are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, please pass on an act of kindness to someone in need.
