Johnnie Richardson, age 69 of Hatchechubee, AL, passed away, in the presence of loved ones, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown in Columbus, GA.
He was born on September 18, 1956, in Eufaula, AL to the late Dave Mack Richardson and the late Roszell Church Richardson of Hatchechubee, AL.
He leaves behind his wife, Betty Mae Spencer Richardson of Hurtsboro, AL, his daughter, Michelle (Antonio) Richardson-Jernigan, of Hurtsboro, AL, a grandson Antonio Jernigan, Jr. of Hurstboro, AL, one sister, Millie (the late Wardell) Pitts of Columbus, GA; four brothers, John Fearson, Tommy (Glynneze) Richardson, Dave (Louise) Richardson all of Columbus, GA; and Felix (the late Rose) Richardson of Phenix City, AL and a host of other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his older brothers Charlie, Henry, John Henry, Alfonsia, and Lemack Richardson and his sisters Ruthie Mae and Electa Richardson Christian.
Johnnie married Betty Mae Spencer on April 29, 1977. He was known to many, who loved him, as a humble man. He spent his time working in the mills and helping to maintain state roadways. To many, he was the neighborhood mechanic—the man who would drop everything to look under a hood or get a neighbor back on the road. He found his greatest purpose in being kind, lending his talented hands and his tireless spirit to anyone who asked.
A memorial service for Johnnie will be held at 2:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at the Hurtsboro Senior Center located at 507 Railroad Street in Hurtsboro, AL 36860.
Georgia Cremation-Columbus is assisting the family with the arrangements.
