Mr. Matthew Ryan Rudy, age 45, of Fayetteville, GA, passed away on March 23,
2026.
Matthew was born February 26, 1981, in Decatur, GA, to Michael and Susan
(Carman) Rudy. He grew up in Peachtree City, GA alongside his older brother,
Bradley, and his parents. Matt, as he was known to everyone, earned his high
school diploma in 1999 from McIntosh High School in PTC, and went on to
attend Mercer University. He graduated from Mercer in 2005, earning his BS
degree in Psychology/Philosophy. In 2012, Matt graduated from Mercer
University again, this time earning his master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
After earning his BS degree, Matthew worked as a Behavior Data Specialist at
the Marcus Institute and Abstractor I at the Battelle Memorial Institute. After that,
he went to work for RTI/CDC in Atlanta, and held MFT internships for Oasis
Counseling and Grace Harbor. After earning his master’s degree in 2012, Matt
took the role of FFT Supervisor and Therapist at Grace Harbor, as well as
working for the Coweta and Fayette county’s juvenile justice system. Matt was
very interested in the Autism Spectrum, and thoroughly enjoyed working with
families of autistic children.
Matthew was a devout Lutheran, attending Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran
Church in Peachtree city, GA. He began attending church there in 1991, was
confirmed there and became a member.
Matt’s hobbies included computers, he had a knack for assembling and repairing
them, listening to music, watching podcasts, YouTube, he was a self-proclaimed
YouTube addict, and learning how to fix things from watching teaching videos
online. He was also very fond of thrifting, and became an online seller on EBay
and other sites. But his absolute favorite thing to do was hang out and spend
time with his daughter, Hannah, and his family members.
Matt was known to everyone as a kind and caring man, who was always there for
others in their time of need, especially for his mom. Matt was Susan’s rock and they
spoke to each other daily, even if to just check in. He was a one in a million kind
of man and so funny. Matt could keep Bradley on his toes and laughing for hours.
He truly was a devoted father, brother, and son.
The numerous vacations with Hannah and his mom, all the fun times, all the love,
and all the laughter will live on in their memories of Matt. Matthew will always be
remembered as a smart, loving, empathetic, life-loving, wonderful man.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Bill and Dorothy
Carman; his paternal grandparents: Lloyd and Peggy Jacobs, and Wayne Rudy;
and his uncles: Wayne L. Rudy and Steven L. Rudy. Matthew leaves behind to
cherish his memory, his daughter: Hannah Rudy of Sylva/Hayesville, NC; his
parents: Susan Carman of Peachtree City, GA, and Michael Rudy of Clarkston, GA; his brother: Bradley Rudy of Clarkston, GA; his aunts: Susan Rudy and Trixie Rudy; and a host of cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held for Matt on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 1:00 PM.
The service will take place at Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, 101 N
Peachtree Pkwy, Peachtree City, GA 30269. Immediately following Matt’s
