Agent Dan the Man (Guery Daniel Varner), 78, died Sunday, April 26, 2026 at his beloved home in Jenkinsburg, GA attended by his wife, his daughter, his sister, and his bonus daughter. Agent Dan loved and cherished many women during his lifetime and his favorite girls were honored and privileged to care for him through his transition. Born May 31, 1947 to the late William Augustus Varner and Mary Montgomery Varner in Atlanta, Georgia, Dan lived a life of endless curiosity and adventure. As a young man he raced for Suzuki on the Motocross and Enduro circuits. An avid fan of all motorsports, he rode motorcycles his entire life, delighting in the zen of an open road (preferably with lots of curves). In the 1980s he traveled to the British Virgin Islands and discovered Scuba Diving, launching another lifelong passion which he shared with his daughter and anyone else willing to join him. A 29 year veteran employee of Delta Airlines he also loved all things aviation. After jumping out of a perfectly good airplane just to try it out, he attained his Glider Pilot’s license and then built and flew radio controlled airplanes at local airfields and from his own runway he built at the back of his property. He was never happier than when surrounded by friends and family at one of his epic summer pool parties, singing karaoke with his wife, Judy.
Surviving are: his wife, of almost 18 years, Judy Vanatta Varner of Jenkinsburg, Georgia; a daughter, Shannon Varner Alexander and husband, David Hinkleman of Lilburn, Georgia; a sister, Terry Varner Rossi and husband, Armand Michael Rossi of Inman, South Carolina; a bonus daughter, Tabetha Lynn Bolt and husband Christopher Bolt of Acworth, Georgia; a grandchild, Adrian Chase Alexander of Lilburn, Georgia; bonus grandchildren Sarah Nickole Bolt of Dallas, Georgia; Sophia Bren Bolt of Acworth, Georgia; Max Hinkleman of Stone Mountain, Georgia and Rae Hinkleman of Chicago, Illinois; a niece, Stacey Lynn Boswell of Jackson, Georgia; a nephew, Gregory Allen Entrekin of Jackson, Georgia and three grand nephews, one grand niece, and nine great nieces and nephews. He is also survived by countless friends as his generous spirit and open heart served as a beacon for all whom he encountered.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at Locust Grove United Methodist Church located at 211 Peeksville Rd, Locust Grove, GA 30248. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the Locust Grove United Methodist Church to be utilized at their discretion. My deepest condolences on the passing of Dan.
He lived the kind of life most people only daydream about — slipping beneath the surface of the ocean, racing across pavement with the wind at his back, and sending model airplanes into the sky as if testing the limits of gravity itself. He moved through the world with an adventurous spirit.
I always admired the way he chased experiences with both courage and conviction. He collected stories, risks, and moments that made life feel bigger. Losing someone like that leaves a kind of quiet — the kind that reminds you how rare he truly was.
May his memory continue to lift us all, the way his spirit always lifted itself toward the next horizon. And may everyone find comfort in knowing he lived fully, boldly, and entirely on his own terms.

Dan is one of a kind, and the world will never be the same without him. He had the ability to touch other’s lives in so many special ways, often unaware of the positive influence he had on people. It comforts me to know that Dan, a lifelong fan of aviation, has climbed to a new altitude and is soaring with the angels for eternity while watching over his family and friends. Dan’s beautiful legacy will continue to live on forever through all of us who knew, loved, and admired him. Rest in peace, my dear friend. You may be gone but will never be forgotten! I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around Dan’s family and friends as they grieve his loss.

Dan Varner was like no other. He was a man I got to know well through the time we spent together, and I’ll always be grateful for that. He was a kind soul who would help anyone with anything, and he was never afraid to learn something new right alongside you.
He was incredibly knowledgeable about racing, and I remember one time he had bought a go-kart and wanted me to ride around his property in Jengenburg. He was teaching me how to take the curves—it was an awesome memory I’ll never forget.
Dan was always curious about the world and eager to try new things. This world has truly lost a great man, and heaven has gained someone full of energy who loved to live life on the edge.
We love you, Dan Varner. Give them hell.
