Helen Land Baker, 87, passed away June 18, 2026, at the Columbus Hospice House after a brief illness.

Born in Miami, Florida, on September 8, 1938, Mrs. Baker worked primarily in the home, but also worked in her community as a paraprofessional at Britt David Elementary. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, camping, hunting, spending time outdoors, and cheering on her favorite sports teams.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Leslie Allen Baker. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Holland (Jim); her son, Leslie Allen Baker, Jr. (Susan); and her brothers, Julian Land and George Land, as well as a large extended family. She took great pride in being “Grandma” to her grandchildren, Joshua Holland, Cayle Holland (Christina), Sarah Baker Emmer (Bailey), and Lucas Baker; as well as great and great-great grandchildren.

A graveside celebration of life will be held at a later date at Park Hill Cemetery in Columbus, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Columbus Hospice House.

Georgia Cremation-Columbus is assisting the family with the arrangements.
