Kathy Sheila Gillis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on August 9th, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love and beautiful memories for all who knew her.

Kathy married her husband, Roger Allen Gillis, on November 25th, 2004. She was a loving presence in the lives of her family, her sons Michael and Noah, and her stepdaughter, Shannon.

Kathy had a heart that seemed to have room for everyone and every animal that needed love. Animals held a special place in her heart, and she often took in animals she came across that needed care, shelter, or a forever home. It seemed as though every stray knew exactly where to find her and would eventually show up on her doorstep.

Kathy also loved fishing, especially saltwater fishing, where she found joy, peace, and countless memories with her friends and family.

Her love for her family, animals, and the simple pleasures of life was evident in everything she did. those who knew Kathy will remember her for her generous heart and caring nature. Her absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but her love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all the animals she cared for.

Kathy is preceded in death by her mother and father, Jean Cochran Hefner and Clifford Cochran Sr.; her brother, Timmy Hefner; her sister, Wanda Hefner; her brother-in-law, Dorsey Duffie; and her nephew, Justin Duffie.

She is survived by her husband, Roger A. Gillis; her sister, Elizabeth Duffie; her half-brothers, Clifford “Boogie” Hefner Jr., and Mark Abbott; her sons, Noah and Michael Ledbetter; her step-daughter, Shannon Gillis; her grandchildren, Allie Spain, Parker Ledbetter Brown, Jordan Webb, and Connor Gay; her great grandchildren, Wyatt and Jack Spain; her Nieces, Caitlin Duffie, Ansley Duffie, Cheryl Lynn Hefner, Sheila Marie Hefner, Carla Brehmer, and Haley Grace; and her nephews, Josh Duffie and his wife Christy, Justin Duffie, Brandon Hefner, and Carter Duffie.
