May 5, 1949 – October 8, 2026
Sybil U. Beatty, a beloved wife, mother, Gram, teacher, and faithful servant of God, passed away on October 8, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and lives forever changed by her kindness.
Born on May 5, 1949, in Charleston, South Carolina, Sybil later made her home in Midland, Georgia, where she built a life centered on faith, family, and love for others.
Sybil was a devoted Christian woman whose faith in God was the foundation of her life. Her church, Morningside Baptist, held a special place in her heart and was an important part of her life. She carried her faith into the way she loved, served, and cared for those around her. Her gentle spirit, kind heart, and steadfast love touched the lives of so many.
A retired teacher, Sybil, dedicated her career to educating and encouraging others. She made a lasting impact on countless students and families, leaving a legacy that extended far beyond the classroom. Teaching was more than a profession to her; it was an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.
Above all, Sybil cherished her family. She was a loving mother and a proud, devoted Gram whose greatest joys were found in the people she loved. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Whether sharing a conversation, tending to her garden, or gathering with loved ones, Sybil had a way of making those around her feel cared for and loved. Her presence was a blessing, and the memories she created will be treasured for generations to come.
Sybil was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gerald L. Beatty, who passed away in January 2021. Their love and the life they shared remain an enduring part of her family’s story.
She leaves behind her three children: Erin Beatty (Moon) of Atlanta, Georgia; Jim Beatty (Stephanie) of Birmingham, Alabama; and Megan Harrison (Jeremy) of Midland, Georgia. Her legacy continues through her five beloved grandchildren, Jackson, Mae Mae, and Walker Beatty, and Parker and Grayson Harrison, as well as her precious great-grandchild, Percy. She will also be lovingly remembered by extended family, dear friends, and the many lives she touched throughout her life.
While her family grieves the loss of a woman who meant so much to them, they find comfort in the faith she lived by and the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Though she will be deeply missed, her love will remain woven into the lives of those she leaves behind. Her lessons, her example, and her unwavering faith will continue to guide and inspire her family for years to come.
Sybil’s life was a testament to the beauty of loving others well, serving faithfully, and finding joy in the blessings of family and faith. Her earthly journey has ended, but the love she gave and the lives she touched will never be forgotten.
She will be forever loved, forever missed, and forever held in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.

We love Mrs Beatty! She was one of the very best teachers my children ever had. She taught many children to love reading novels along with her. She was kind and caring and always willing to pray with her students. She will be missed at Morningside, but we are thankful that she is now in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ!🩷

This describes Sybil beautifully. She was a neighbor to us, at The Promenades. When we had been moved in only a short time, Sybil would stop by, on her evening walks, and make conversation with us. We will never forget her friendliness and kindness, as new neighbors. In later conversations with her, I always felt I had learned something, either from her teaching background, or her love of growing flowers.

Lovely testimonial for a beautiful life, well lived. I didn’t get to speak with her many times, but I always saw her working in her yard before she moved. Praying for comfort and healing for all of the family and loved ones.
