Patricia Kay Batty

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Patricia Kay Amanda (Rothwell) Batty, age 80, of Phenix City, AL went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, October 20. Born on March 17, 1946, St Patrick’s Day (she was named after him), she grew up in the Crosby-Ironton, MN area, the fifth of six children.

She attended Central Bible College where she met David Batty. They married after she graduated, and became Patty Batty, a name that brought many smiles her way all her life. Their family grew to include one son Timothy and one daughter Michelle. Her family was her greatest love, and she loved being a wife and mother.

After college, Patty and Dave began their ministry at Teen Challenge in Brooklyn, New York, and then she assisted Dave when he began working in the Teen Challenge National Office, where she also served as the Executive Assistant to the National President of Teen Challenge. Then from 1997-2007 they returned to Teen Challenge in Brooklyn where she served as the counselor for many of the graduates of the program. She was also famous for her special breakfasts for the staff, her chocolate chip cookies, and her holiday Christmas gatherings with students and staff. From 2007-2013 she worked at the Global Teen Challenge headquarters in Columbus, GA.

Patty loved people, always had a smile, and found joy in visiting Teen Challenge centers in the USA and internationally, painting, cooking for others, and visiting family and friends.

Patty is survived by her husband, David; son, Timothy; daughter, Michelle; 3 grandchildren; her sisters, Beverly and Cheryl, and her brother, Harland. She also has many spiritual sons and daughters who were enriched by her life.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate Patty’s life will be held at North Highland Church, 7300 Whittlesey Blvd., Columbus, GA on November 20, at 3:00PM (Eastern Time Zone). The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Global Teen Challenge, 15 West 10th Street, Columbus, GA 31901 (globaltc.org).

Patty Batty will forever be cherished and remembered by all who were blessed to know her. Praise God, she is resting in eternal peace.

Georgia Cremation-Columbus is assisting the family with the arrangements.
