Richard Foster “Dick” Casper

Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Richard Foster “Dick” Casper, devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, joined the ranks of those who have completed their time on this Earth on the 28th of October 2026.

Dick was born on June 21, 1945, in Elizabeth City, NC. During his childhood, his Coast Guard family relocated to Alaska, instilling in him an adventurous, pioneering spirit that defined the rest of his life. After his family resettled in Jacksonville, Florida, he attended Jean Ribault High School and later Florida State University, graduating with a degree in Chemistry.

His college years brought his greatest blessing: meeting Dorothy Ann “Dotty” Sechrest. Married on July 22, 1967, Dick and Dotty built a 59-year partnership marked by deep devotion and shared adventure. Early in their marriage, Dick and Dotty moved to Ithaca, New York, where their first son, Rick, was born. Following too many cold northern winters, they returned south, where their family grew with the arrival of their daughter, Pam, and younger son, David.

After moving to Duluth, GA in 1981, Dick was active with raising the children. He could often be found at Shorty Howell Park cheering on all three kids in baseball and softball. He also encouraged his sons by actively participating with them in the local Scout Troop 419. As the children grew, he could be found on Saturdays and Sundays at the Stables doing chores, taking them to Horse Shows, the Hilltoppers Pony Club or going on quiet rides.

A gifted entrepreneur with a strong work ethic, Dick founded Lock Doctor, Inc. in 1988 near his home in Duluth, Georgia. Under his leadership, the high-security lock solutions provider grew into a widely respected enterprise known for treating employees like family and serving businesses throughout metropolitan Atlanta and the Southeast. Dick eventually retired from the company, proudly passing the role of CEO to his oldest son, Rick. In 2018, Dick and Dotty moved to Cumming, Georgia, enjoying quiet years surrounded by family.

The memory of Dick will be cherished by his beloved wife of 59 years, Dotty; his son Rick (wife Marge) and grandchildren Katie and Nick of Buford, GA; his daughter Pam Bush (Husband Bill) of Woodstock, GA; his son David (wife Ami) and grandson Charlie of Cumming, GA; his sister Tracy Casper Gushanus (husband Joseph) of Seattle, WA; his sister Jane of Dahlonega, GA; his nephew James Casper (wife Ashley) of Birmingham, AL; and a wide circle of extended family and lifelong friends.

At Dick’s request, private arrangements have been made without formal services. A celebratory party will be held at a later time, bringing family and friends together. Those wishing to honor his memory are encouraged to smile as they recall one of the many positive interactions they had with him over the years, to hug a loved one, to pay it forward to those who have need, or to make a donation in his memory to a charity of their choice. The family warmly welcomes the continued stories, friendship, and camaraderie of those who shared in Dick’s full and generous life.
