Alice Marie Ekman Nichols (AMEN) was born September 14, 1946 in Columbus, Georgia to Sarah Alice Bell Ekman and J.O. Ekman (Joe). Marie devoted her life to raising her 4 boys and was known as the neighborhood “Mom”. She was instrumental in helping raise her grandchildren, spending many years in Tucson, Arizona. They were the apple of her eye. Marie moved to Phenix City, AL 3 years ago. She enjoyed crafts, games, bargain hunting, fishing, but spending time with her family was the greatest enjoyment.
Marie passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at Kindred Care Hospice in Columbus, Georgia. She is preceded in death by her husband of 14 years, Dempsey (Nick) Nichols, and her son, Christopher Scott Miller, and her parents.
Survivors include her sons, Todd Miller and Jodie Miller of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Terry (Lara) Nichols of Waynesboro, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Carmen Miller of Tucson, Arizona; siblings, Jim (Laura) Ekman and Sandy (Larry) Motos; grandchildren, Jesse, Jessica, Haley, Kyle, Nikki, Leah, Tyler, Michael, Samantha, and Ashley; greatgrandchild, Maribella; and a host of extended family members.
A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Landmark Church, 270 Lee Road 456, Phenix City, AL 36867, Pastor Andy Rutherford officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either Landmark Church, 270 Lee Road 456, Phenix City, AL 36867 or American Cancer Society.
