Mrs. Iris Rebecca “Becky” Martin, age 69, of Chattachoochee Hills, passed away April 16, 2019.
Mrs. Martin was born in Hogansville on February 28, 1950 to the late T.J. and Colie Flournoy. She grew up in the Hogansville area alongside her two brothers, Tom and Tim. Mrs. Martin graduated from Hogansville High School in 1968.
Mrs. Martin began her career with Georgia Power working in customer service. She worked her way up in the electric industry over many years and eventually earned the position of Human Relations Coordinator for Southern Company Services. After 35 years of service, Mrs. Martin retired in 2004. She spent many happy years of retirement with her beloved husband by her side. Mrs. Martin spent her days cooking, reading and gardening. She enjoyed cooking for her family, particularly her pound cakes and traditional Christmas lasagna. Mrs. Martin enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to her garden. She grew fruits and vegetables that she canned and beautiful flowers. Mrs. Martin loved her animals as well. She kept dogs, cats and chickens.
Mrs. Martin gave much of herself to her church home, Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She was a faithful member and active in the church’s Circle of Friends group. She was always willing to help by preparing meals and volunteering in church activities. She also volunteered at Clothes Less Traveled. She believed in the sanctity of life and was a supporter of the Pregnancy Aid Clinc.
Mrs. Martin was a loving wife, mother and Grandmom to her family. She was kind, sweet and the most loving person one would ever meet. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family and faith. Mrs. Martin will be dearly missed by all of those who knew her.
Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband of 33 years: John H. Martin, Sr. of Chattahoochee Hills; daughters and son-in-law: Leslie and Todd Bianchi of Peachtree City, Amanda Simmons of Canton; sons and daughters-in-law: John and Kari Martin of Springtown, TX, Joel and Brandy Martin of Logansville; grandchildren: Sebastian, MacKenzie, Cody, Sarai, Rebekah, Madison, Coty, Avery, Andrew, Skyler and Logan; brothers and sisters-in-law: Thomas and Jill Flournoy of Memphis, TN, Timothy and Charlene Flournoy of Huntsville, AL.
A memorial mass will be held in Mrs. Martin’s honor at 1:30 PM on Friday, April 26, 2019 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 101 Walt Banks Road, Peachtree City, GA 30269. A visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, prior to the service. Friends are invited to join the Martin family for a reception following the service.

John & Family- Heaven just got sweeter with our angel,Becky. She was a great, caring, always smiling sister-in-law, also our traveling and beach buddy.
