Betty “Beck” Gregory Partain, 76 of Columbus, born to the late Clinton Howard and Mabel Sweatt Gregory, died Sunday, July 25, 2021, after battling several illnesses. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Carlton Isaiah Partain. She is survived by her sister, Patricia Lester of Phenix City and her twin sister, Barbara Fry of Floyd, VA; Nephews David Lester of Plant City, FL and Greg Lester of Phenix City and niece, Crystal (Timothy) Johnson of Floyd, VA; and several great nieces and nephews.
Betty graduated from Jordan High School in 1963. She then began working at W.T. Grant until she married her husband, Carlton. On October 24, 1970, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She will be missed by those in the River Road Congregation. Betty found great enjoyment working in her yard. She loved flowers, gardening, and caring for the birds; hummingbirds were her favorite. Due to her battle with cancer, she became known for her hat collection and would refer to most days as a “bad hair day”. She will be remembered most for her generous and caring spirit.
The family would especially like to thank the staff of Covenant Woods who took an interest in our sister and aunt and cared for her as their own family.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 31st via Zoom at 1pm.
The Partain family is being assisted by Georgia Cremation-Columbus 7500 Veteran’s Parkway Suite A Columbus, GA 31909. The family request that you please sign the online registry and leave condolences below.

My memories of Betty our among some of my first in Columbus. When my mother began studying the Bible, it was in the Gregory home that we attended our first meetings of the weekly Bible Study. This was the beginning of a lifelong relationship with with such a loving person. After a few years and a trip overseas, we rented a part of Sister Gregory,s home. Now we always had friends to play with. Thank Jehovah for our wonderful hope of the resurrection. A time when new and wonderful times will create new and wonderful memories
