Betty Jean Pierce, 91, of College Park, Ga, passed away on November 17, 2024.
Betty was born August 13, 1933, to Lonney Ezra and Annie Lue (Smith) Hendricks. She grew up in College Park alongside her parents and her older sister, Hilda. Betty attended North Clayton high school and graduated in 1950.
Shortly after graduating high school, Betty wed Eldon Pierce, and even though the two were teenage sweethearts, they knew their love was meant for a lifetime. Eldon and Betty had 54 blissful years together, growing their precious family with the addition of four sons. The happy couple spent their first years in College Park, and then moved to Greensboro, NC and eventually moved back to College Park to raise their children. Betty adored her family and was a devoted wife and mother.
Betty was devout Christian and a long-time member of College Park Second Baptist Church. She could be found joyfully serving the church anytime they needed her help. She was a caregiver to everyone around her, embodying the essence of selflessness. In her spare time, she was known to help out at her family’s restaurant and at her sister’s florist shop.
Betty spent her last few years enjoying her time at Heartis Senior Living, having her long-time friend, Frances, as her neighbor. She thoroughly enjoyed driving her car (her wheelchair) across the street (the hallway) to say Hello. She will be missed by everyone who knew her and loved her so much!
She is preceded in death by her husband: Eldon Pierce; parents: Lonney and Annie Hendricks; her sister and brother-in-law: Hilda and Jerry Martorell; and her youngest son: Patrick Pierce. Betty is survived by her sons: Allen Pierce (Frances) of Griffin, Terry Pierce of Fayetteville, and Tim Pierce, also of Fayetteville; her grandchildren: Chris Pierce (Regan) of Roswell, Ga and Jeff Pierce of Sandy Springs; her great-grandchildren: Madelena, Collin, and Sullivan; her precious fur-babies: Lulu and Hadley; and a host of friends that she made throughout her lifetime.
At Ms. Pierce’s request, she was cremated, and no services are planned.
