Betty Lou Stopka, 86, of The Rock, GA, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023.
Betty was born April 28, 1936, in Bath, NY, to the late George “Windy” and Tressa Louella (Hadley) Winters. She grew up alongside her parents and her two sisters. Betty attended Haverling School in Bath and obtained her GED. She had a career in Grocery working for PNC Grocery for 15 years.
Betty was a faithful Presbyterian and a member of The Order of the Eastern Star organization for many years. She enjoyed reading books, camping, traveling the United States, her favorite fur baby Marley, and spending time with her family. Betty spent her last years enjoying special time with her grandchildren, Kate and Sam, her daughter Sarah, and the love of her life, her husband Ed. She will greatly missed and always loved by them!
Betty is preceded in death by her parents: George “Windy” and Tressa Louella (Hadley) Winters. She is survived by her husband, Edward K. Stopka; her daughters: Kathy Edred(William Baker), Sarah Stopka, Carol (Elwood) Blanc; her sons: Keith (Mandi) Barkley and Kevin (Cheryl) Barkley; her sisters: Sally (John) Stopka of Hammondsport, NY and Marjorie Carson of Montour Falls, NY; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and the family will announce plans at that time.
