Ivar Brothen, age 80, of Dawsonville, Georgia passed away Saturday, February 7, 2015.  A memorial service to celebrate the life of Ivar Brothen will be held 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1125 Bettis Trible Gap RD, Cumming, GA 30040 (770)889-5328 www.ctklutheran.com.  The family will receive friends from 12 noon until time of service at the church.

Ivar was born Monday, October 29, 1934 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota.  He grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, and served during the Korean War.  Ivar met Darlene while stationed in Jacksonville, Forida.  They married on November 1, 1955.

Mr. Brothen was preceded in death by his son, Jon Brothen.  He is survived by his wife, Darlene Brothen; son, Rolf Brothen; daughter Vicki Archer; and grandsons, Spencer Archer and William Brothen.
