Carles Monroe Gillespie, 87, of Fayetteville Ga went home to be with Jesus on January 8th, 2020 at Hope Memory Care Center in Fayetteville, Ga.
Carles was born July 17, 1932 to the late Buster and Ida Gillespie of Lavonia, GA. He was wed to Dorothy F. Brown on April 4, 1953. The couple moved to the Atlanta area where they began their journey of a happily married life for 66 years.
Carles is survived by his loving wife: Dorothy F. Gillespie of Fayetteville; brother and sister-in-law: Russ and Irene Gillespie of Marietta; daughter: Debbie Buck and her husband Johnny of Fayetteville; son: Terry S. Gillespie and his wife Tammy of Douglasville; daughter: Carla Gillespie Berry and her husband Wes of Vinings; grandsons and their wives: Andy and Amy Buck of Monroe, Steven and Tori Gillespie of Stockbridge, Nathan and Jessie Knight of Douglasville; granddaughter and her husband: Kristin and Derek Hawthorne of Mableton; four great-grandsons: Asher and Adam Buck of Monroe, Raylan Gillespie of Stockbridge, Carter Knight of Douglasville; three great-granddaughters: Chole Knight, Kylie Knight and Kinsley Knight, all of Douglasville; many loving nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Hope Memory Care Center, 355 Brandywine Blvd., Fayetteville, GA, 30214.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask contributions be sent in Carles’s name to Southern Grace Hospice, 384 Racetrack Road, McDonough, GA 30252, www.southerngracehospice.com. Donations will also be accepted at the Celebration of Life.

Larry and I are so very sorry to learn that Carles has passed. He had one of the most engaging personalities – you could not fail but like him on sight and remember him with happiness. Dot, you all are in our prayers. I hope that you know we care about you all and have happy memories of times together.
