Carol Ann Joy Miller passed away on October 10, 2025, at age 88 in Columbus, Georgia. She was born to Arthur Currie Joy, Sr. and Willie Lee Joy on April 5, 1937, in Flushing, Queens, New York. Carol was predeceased by her parents, her brothers Art, David, and Robert, and by Ed, her husband of more than 50 years. She is survived by her son, Keith W. Willis (Patty), her daughter, Rebecca Miller Parrish (Cale), and grandson Matthew Willis.
Carol and Ed were avid outdoorspeople, hunting and fishing together while Carol turned bass, bream, and venison into many amazing meals. Carol was an avid reader throughout her life, and even in her final days fondly revisited children’s classics like Winnie the Pooh and The Cat in the Hat. She had a beautiful singing voice (foretold at birth by her maiden name, Carol Joy) and sang everywhere, enchanting golfers at the various courses where she worked concessions until she retired. It tickled Ed that he couldn’t take his wife anywhere in Columbus without her being recognized and swept up in a big hug by one of her golfers. Second only to Ed in Carol’s affections was Otto the Bear, who survived over 30 years’ and two nursing homes’ worth of cuddles and kisses. We will deeply miss this quiet, affectionate, intelligent lady with the voice of an angel and a wry sense of humor. Sleep well, Mom.

Mrs. Carol was loved by the Hodges family. She always made us feel like family. I really miss those days on the water and always looked forward to the goodies she had prepared for the trip. She was a kind loving soul, and yes I enjoyed her singing! We love you Mrs. Carol!
