Carolyn Elaine Goodman Newton was born September 14, 1941 In Leary, Georgia to the late Trudie Mae Tompkins Goodman and James Choice Goodman. She was one of seven children and grew up in South Georgia on her family farm. As most during that time, she worked on the farm doing a variety of tasks and was particularly fond of the family goat. Growing up during these times, she developed into a very strong-willed woman which was a trait that shaped the rest of her life. She will always be remembered for her one of a kind laugh and strong opinions regarding politics.
Ms. Newton was a woman of faith and attended Milford Baptist Church when she was able. For those that knew her would agree, Carolyn was an extremely talented artist and adored a variety of arts and crafts including, painting, sewing, quilting, basket weaving, jewelry creation, and southern cooking. Her home is filled with a lifetime of her artistic works that will be cherished for many years to come. She enjoyed cooking and was known for her famous cheese straws, yeast rolls, and biscuits. With her love for creating new works, she could be described by those closest as displaying an addiction with Hobby Lobby and other various craft stores. Ms. Newton loved photography, playing games on the computer, networking with other artists on Facebook and growing beautiful Orchids.

I am so saddened to hear this. I recently thought of her and that I had not seen her in a while. Carolyn was so sweet and talented. We often talked about photography and art. She could get me so tickled while she was trying to be so serious. Our best day we agreed was retirement. I sure will miss her and my prayers are with her family and I know she surely loved them all.
