Catherine “Cat” Irene Peterson was born January 10th, 1957 in San Bernardino, California to the late Eunice Trout. From a young age, Cat had a servant’s heart. When she was in high school, she volunteered as a counselor at a special needs camp. Her passion to serve led her to become a nurse and she worked either in assisted care facilities or in the prison system for most of her career. She felt drawn to work in places where people are often overlooked or forgotten, since she believed everyone deserved respect and a second chance. She always rooted for the underdog and took definite pride in being unique. When she wasn’t working, she spent her time rescuing and loving kitties. She was known to take in strays and provide them with medical attention, care and food. Cat was also one who could bring people together and help them heal difficulties in their relationships. This may be her greatest legacy.
Cat was a very selfless person who always found a way to help and be of service to others. She will be remembered for her giving heart and offbeat sense of humor. Cat had a love for all holidays, but Halloween was her absolute favorite.

Cat was a unique individual and touched my heart in many ways. I worked with her at Jack Hughston. She was a wonderful nurse but an even better friend. When I was going through breast cancer and treatments she was so very encouraging, she lifted my spirits and gave me hope. I will never forget her. Fly high my friend fly high.

I worked with Cath at Jack Hughston Hospital for few years. Even though most of our interactions only happened at shift change because I work days, I remembered Cath to be always happy and kind. She was always willing to share her baked goodies. And she will stay extra to help and will take the time to explain things if you ask her. She was a great person and an excellent nurse and will be missed by many. Heaven gained an angel! Rest in peace Cath.🙏

I’m still at a loss for words my dear sweet neighbor and friend. I know just that 1 sentence made you laugh that laugh that absolutely can never be duplicated. I dont know if I will ever see a cat and not think of you for the rest of my life. Especially a stray 1. Matter of fact I’m sure I want and let’s not forget the 2 raccoons. Lots of people can say they love something more than they loved themselves and that not be the truth but You my sweet friend truly did. I will mis our long stand on the porch till we had to sit down talks. May your soul be at eternal rest.
Love Forever,
