Ms. Rachel Catherine Williams, age 73, of Baltimore, MD, passed away on May 17, 2018 at 1:50am.
Suggie was born on July 23, 1944 in Baltimore, MD to the late Ressey and Ruth Price. She married her loving husband, John, in 1963 and the couple had five children. Suggie spent her early years in motherhood as a homemaker to her family. When her children became of elementary school age, she became a librarian for Baltimore City Schools. She was very active in her local community and even served on the Baltimore City Council for ten years. She went on to become a school bus attendant in the district for fifteen years, a job she very much enjoyed. During this time she even led a children’s dance group. All of these rolls suited her well, as she had a passion for helping people and working with children.
Suggie was kind, giving and sweet. Her social and chatty nature made her popular in her community. She liked to write and enjoyed a good book, music and dancing. She was also a lover of pets, particularly dogs. Although not much of a cook, she was well-known for her delicious homemade baked goods. Her family won’t soon forget the love she put into her homemade icing that went atop her made-from-scratch strawberry pound cake. She also enjoyed making cupcakes and other desserts for every occasion, or no occasion at all.
Along with her parents, Suggie was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years: John H. Williams; daughter: Kimberly Williams, brothers Harold, Ressey Sr, Louis, Thomas, sisters Shirley James, Marie Jackson. She is survived by her 4 children Dana Williams (Larry Chavis) of Fayetteville, GA, Jonathan Williams (Cheryl Williams), (Pooch Travers),Keith Williams (Channel Williams) and Rodney Williams (Alicia Mays-Williams) all of Baltimore, MD; grandchildren: Megan(Sean), Colbey(Jessica), Keyanna(Ronald), Javaughn, Keith Jr.(Cherae), Adrianne, Rashad, Ryan and Jaia and great-grandchildren: Khloe, Kylie, Colbey Jr, Ava, Makiyah, Liam, Gerard, Jordan, Heaven, Kaiden and Kali. Brother Edwin Price of Miami, FL; aunt Dora Levroney of Glen Burnie, MD sister-in-law: Evelyn Price of Glen Burnie, MD; 2 brother in laws Matthew Williams, and Norman Williams (Evelyn Peters) and a host of nieces, nephew, cousins and friends.
A special thanks to the hospice Compassus Healthcare team for their compassion, prayers, dedication, support and loving care.
