Share

Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.

Cecil Theron Jeffords, Jr, 80, of Fayetteville, GA, passed away on September 11, 2025, with his loving wife by his side.

Cecil was born October 10, 1944, in Florence, SC to Cecil and Helen (Turner) Jeffords. He grew up in the Florence and Georgetown, SC areas. Jeff, as he was known to his family and friends at the time, attended McLeod High School and earned his high school diploma in 1962. The following year Cecil joined the U.S. Navy and began a demanding yet very rewarding career as an Air Traffic Control Specialist. At the young age of only 19 Cecil was able to stay laser focused on maintaining the safety and efficiency of air travel through constant monitoring and clear communication. No small feat for any age. Following his Naval service, he continued his commitment to aviation safety at Atlanta ARTCC in Hampton, GA dedicating his professional life to an elite field for over three decades. Upon his retirement, Cecil had guided thousands of flights and even more passengers safely to their destinations. His work was a testament to his character: sharp, focused, and always reliable.

Even through such a demanding career and commitment to the safety of so many, Cecil maintained a heart of gold and joyful demeanor. In 1981 he married the love of his life, Kim, and the two had a blissful marriage of 44 years. The couple shared love, laughs, tears, and memories that she will cherish forever.

After retiring, Cecil enjoyed spending his time watching sports on TV and bowling. He loved all sports but was especially fond of football. Go Falcons! His favorite pastime was spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a big family man and always enjoyed having them around.

Cecil will be remembered by his family as a man who loved them deeply, loved them always, and would do anything in the world for any of them.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents: Cecil Theron Jeffords, Sr and Dora Helen (Turner) Jeffords, his sister: Cecile Haynes, and his grandson: Alex Jeffords. He is survived by his wife: Lucy Kimberly Jeffords; his son: Cecil T. Jeffords III (Linda) of Goose Creek, SC; his daughters: Crystal Swinford of Summerville, SC, Melanie Jeffords of Fayetteville, GA, and Kayla Rada (Clint) of Las Vegas, NV; his grandchildren: Brittany, Kaiden, Kamryn, Johnna, Kylie, Riley, Kyrie, and Clint Jr; and his four great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Cecil’s life will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025, at Inman United Methodist Church, 151 Hillsbridge Road, Fayetteville, GA 30215. The service will begin at 2:00 P.M.
