The spirit of Charles Daniel Velotta passed to the peace and healing of Heaven on April 1, 2024. Born in Alexandria, Louisiana on June 30, 1941, Charles was 82 years old. Charles and his wife Sadie were married 52 years, only a week shy of their 53rd wedding anniversary. During those five decades together, they enjoyed a full life – three children, nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren. Charles and Sadie lived mostly in Louisiana and Alabama but enjoyed a couple of exciting detours exploring MS & NJ. In early 2019, they relocated to a northern suburb of Atlanta, Georgia.
Charles was a strong man with a gentle heart. He was a loving husband, father, and Papa. He was a committed Christian and enjoyed mentoring youth in the Royal Ambassadors mission group. He loved his family and his Lord, and he lived a life of faith with a servant’s heart. He was an avid cook who enjoyed all types of food especially cooking Italian and Cajun dishes, a patriot and Army Veteran, an advocate for workers and unions, and an electrician by trade. He was a member of the American Legion, a member of the Amerita Club, and a member of Local 576 IBEW for 55 years. He loved life, having fun, making jelly, playing cards, fishing, playing Santa in town parades, and having big family gatherings with food and lots of laughter. He was a jokester and a prankster from his youth and kept a healthy sense of humor throughout his life – even up to his death on April Fool’s Day.
He was the cherished spouse of Sadie Velotta; the loving father of Sonya (Kem), Maria (John), Christian “Nick” (Kristy); the adored Papa of Charlea, John-Warren (Candie), Jesse (Tempa), Caleb (Brittani), Alzada (Seth), John III (Madison), Gianna-Maria, Grant, Carter; and the Great-Papa of Connor, Jessa, Beaux, Hunter, Forrest, Trinity, Edward, Emmitt, Tali, Tinslee, and Hazel, and was looking forward to the arrival his 12th great-grandchild, Sadie-Marie Nicole.
A private family memorial service was held on April 3, 2024, in Georgia and a Celebration of Life service will be held in Louisiana in the near future.
His family and friends miss him but know he is dancing with the Heavenly Choir and rejoicing with those who were waiting for him.
Georgia Cremation in Duluth assisted the family with arrangements.
