Born on July 30th 1953, to the parents of Ruby Pitts and Emmanuel Pitts. Dalarie Emmanuette Pitts Harris was the youngest of three children, Michael Pitts being her elder by 10 years and Deborah Pitts being her elder by four. Raised in the East Wynton area of Columbus, Georgia, Dalarie attended the area schools and graduated from Carver High School in 1971. Dalarie succeeded in being a friend, sister, daughter and wife. However her greatest accomplishment was being a mother, her first daughter Skeena Daniel (2009) and Shari Makell (Dorsey). While raising her daughters, Dalarie met Edgar Harris and married in 1991. While a great mother, Dalarie threw her all in being the best grandmother she could be. Even adopting her grandchildren, Ja’kyma and Jamari after the death of her oldest daughter, Skeena. Caring for Nevaeh and Jonathan while her youngest worked until her illness took over.
Dalarie Harris passed peacefully on 9/7/23, being succeeded in death by her daughter, Skeena Daniel and husband, Edgar Harris.
She is survived by her siblings Micheal Pitts and Deborah Hayes (Pitts), Shari, her daughter and grandchildren, Ja’kyma, Nevaeh, Jamari and Jonathan, and numerous cousins and friends.
Georgia Cremation of Columbus, Georgia is assisting the family.

Dalarie and knew each other from East Wynnton and Carver High School. She lived on 9th St. and I lived on Baldwin St .She was a joy to know, very friendly, family oriented and spiritual. We would see each other in the community and always talked about the good old days. So sorry for your loss .

When you don’t find out until you’re almost grown who your relatives are, yet you’ve seen each other from HS thru many other gatherings, not knowing the closeness.
Once I knew Dalarie personally for myself, we had an instant connection as with all my other cousins and a kindred love for each other. I am deeply sorrowful for our lost especially for Sheri and Dalarie’s grand children. We didn’t speak often, but when we did, she spoke of them so proudly and lovingly .
My prayers of peace, comfort, healing, mercy, love and continued grace from God continue to be with them and us all.
Gone too soon, but never to be forgotten.

Dear Shari, Michael, and Deborah. It is sad when one of us leaves the circle of love that our family has always known. Dalarie will be missed from the circle, but we all have the hope that we will see her in eternity.🙏🏽Until then May we all continue to love each other as JESUS LOVES US.
I will miss seeing her beautiful thoughtful smile on facebook.
My love, my thoughts and my prayers are with you all.

Aunt Dalarie, you will definitely be missed. I still talk about the summers that I spent there with you…simpler times. I will miss your “I’m proud of you, nephew” Facebook comments after posting an achievement. I am so glad that I stopped by to see you one of the last times that I was home. I will always remember that conversation. Love you, Auntie!!

Mrs. Harris was a sassy, uplifting soul. She was always in good spirits when I would see her either with or without Shari. I’ve known her a long time because Shari and I have been friends since 3rd grade. I pray that my friend, Shari, and Mrs. Harris’ grandkids finds peace in this trying time. A positive soul has gained her wings and she will forever be missed.

My sister, my friend. We’ve been through so much together..the laughter, the heartbreaks, but more importantly, the love. God brought you into my life 30 years ago and it was one of the greatest gifts He could have ever given me. But now, it’s time to rest from your journey. Look after us as the angel you’ve always been. I love you!❤️

Dal and I knew each other from SCE, but we got to work in the classroom together at RRE. I was just reminded while reading her obituary that she has the same birthday as my mom. She had such a sweet soul. She sure did love her grandbabies. I’ve missed seeing them. Please give them big hugs for me. I know that she will be happy to be reunited with Ed. Y’all are in my thoughts and prayers.
