Daniel Best was a dreamer. He was creative, he was passionate, and he loved his wife, Kathryn, and their five children fiercely.
On March 15, 2024, Daniel Best was welcomed home into the arms of Jesus. He is survived by his parents, Doug and Jan Best, his wife Kathryn and their children; Gabriel, Natalie, Madalynn, Emelynn, and Casen, and by his three brothers and their families; Doug and Timree and their children, Hunter, Reagan, Kinsley, Colton and Lexi; brother Bradley; and brother Johnathan and Katie and their children, Bru and Fisher.
Daniel was homegrown on August 5, 1981, in Peachtree city, Georgia to Doug and Jan Best. He was raised in a Christian family accepting Jesus at a young age. As a young man, he proved his strength, endurance, and perseverance by obtaining the rank of ‘Little Chief’ at Truett Cathy’s Camp WinShape for Boys earning the name ‘Jesting Jackal’, and later achieving his Eagle Scout from local Troop 75. He graduated from McIntosh High School in 2000, and University of North Georgia in 2008. He fell in love with his future wife Kathryn at age 14 and never looked back, but of course it took him a couple years to win her over. They were married May 18, 2002. Together Daniel and Kathryn were blessed with five incredible children.
Daniel’s life was always full of music. From singing Camp WinShape songs with Johnathan as little boys, to singing in his mom’s church choir for years, and being inspired by his older brother Brad’s mastery of the guitar and older cousin Kyle Ogle’s incredible gift of harmonizing and writing. Daniel was a writer, singer, and piano player. The love of music continued to grow as Daniel, Johnathan, and their best friend Eric Summer played every time they were together.
In 2004, The Best Brothers Band was born. They created one Album produced by friend John Driskell Hopkins, made it on local radio, and eventually won Georgia Rock Band of the Year. In 2018 the boys shifted their focus to their families, but Daniel never lost any of his passion and love for music. During their musical journey, Daniel and Johnathan wrote 100’s of songs together, primarily inspired by their love of family.
Over the years, Daniel experienced struggles with addiction. In 2019 he went to Good Landing Recovery and
rediscovered the redeeming power, grace, and love of Jesus. He left there having found a new, deeper, and greater
relationship with our heavenly father then he ever experienced. After returning home he fought to rebuild his family and make up for lost time. Beautiful reconciliation was shared with his beloved wife and children. We rejoice today that his struggles are forever finished and he is worshiping with Jesus for all of eternity. We know It is well with his soul.
Daniel’s Memorial will be at Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church at 4pm on March 24th, 2024.
