‘Dino’ was a great friend that I was fortunate to have met in my young years and happy to have spent time working learning and laughing with in while in the US AIR FORCE on Okinawa and later in Osaka, Japan. Although our paths eventually took separate directions, his character and actions never left my thoughts and the thoughts of those who made his acquaintance… and never will.

I have fond memories of Daron, who we called Dino, during our Japan years around mid-1990s. Dino was an important member of the Japan African-American Friendship Association (JAFA) and we collaborated often on introducing black culture to the Osaka community of Japan. Even then, he endeavored with great passion and energy. He also was a popular, headlining DJ in area and I looked forward to hearing him spin as often as I could. A couple of years ago, through Facebook, we had the opportunity to reconnect where I learned of his valiant battle to beat cancer. To his wife, Elizabeth, his children, and his numerous loved ones and close friends, please accept my sincerest, heart-felt condolences. Rest in Peace, brother, and hope to see you again on the other side.

I didn’t meet Dino while I was in Okinawa I met him in Osaka along with the rest of the expats while he was DJing . He introduced the new brothers to the older ones and used music as a conduit to join us. Sunsplash was our home away from home our safety corner and Dino was always there with the doors open. My condolences to his family and friends I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. We will keep his memories and deeds with us.
I see some names I have not seen in a while. kingmrbl@gmail.com
