Let the family know you care by sharing this tribute.
It is with great sadness that the family of David Walrath, announce his peaceful passing on December 9, 2022 at the age of 72 after a brief battle with cancer.
David was born on November 6, 1950 in North Hornell, NY to Earl and Marian Walrath of Jasper, NY. At the time of his passing he resided in Senoia, GA. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Qianhua Wu; children: Eugene (Jeanette) Walrath, Tammy Walrath, Dennis (Carrie) Walrath, Bianca (William) Kyle and Yafei Zhu; mother, Marian Walrath; grandchildren: Pheobe, Carissa, Joshua, Nicole, Dennis Earl, Kendra, Emma, Hayden, Hazel and Hattie; siblings: Richard Walrath, Larry (Donna) Walrath, Elaine Jackson, Bruce Walrath and John (Lilibeth) Walrath. He will also be dearly missed by his first wife, Darlene Walrath, and his many friends and co-workers.
He served in the United States Army as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. His love for and knowledge of vehicle repair and operation was apparent to anyone who worked with him. He spent a large portion of his career with 3-D Enterprises, Mack Trucks and Massana Construction serving in various positions from mechanic and operator, to manager and owner. He was never afraid to roll up his sleeves and get his hands dirty in order to get the job done.
If he wasn’t working on vehicles he was building something. He was a master of many trades. Whether it was excavating, concrete, carpentry, plumbing, welding or electrical, he could get the job done and was willing to teach anyone who was willing to learn.
In his spare time and brief retirement, he loved to work with wood, or “make shavings”, and many of his family members are blessed with a number of the beautiful items he made in his lifetime. He knew almost as much about wood as he did trucks and delighted in talking about the different pieces he had for his projects. He was always happiest when he was working on a project.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the Brightmoor Hospice Center for their care and compassion.
